Courtney Robertson Scores New Tell All Book Deal

« Is Miley Cyrus Pregnant? | Home September 30, 2013 01:00 PM by Lisa Princ Wow, some of the former stars The Bachelor  sure  have been busy lately! Recently, we learned that Ben Flajnik was selling dates with himself, and now we’ve learned that Courtney Robertson has also been keeping busy – detailing her experience on the show. That’s right, The Bachelor’s most evil villain has landed a new, revealing book deal! Courtney Robertson was definitely one of the most hated contestants of The Bachelor ever, and though she did manage to win over Ben Flajnik, the couple fell victim to the show’s curse and ended their engagement. Now, Robertson plans to dish all about her stint on the show, and she even landed a new book deal in which she will share her story! According to US Weekly , Robertson’s new book will be titled I Didn’t Come Here to Make Friends: Confessions of a Reality Show Villain . “Writing the book has been very cathartic – I’ve definitely learned a lot about myself and love.

CBS promotes publicist Mitch Graham to VP of reality TV; will oversee Survivor, Amazing Race, Big Brother

CBS publicist Mitch Graham has been named CBS’ new vice president for alternative programming, i.e. reality TV, the network announced today. He will report to CBS’ new reality TV executive vice president, Chris Castallo, and “will oversee CBS’s current slate of reality franchises,” which means Survivor , Big Brother , The Amazing Race , and Undercover Boss . The network’s announcement also said, “He will also be involved in the development of new alternative programs, including reality, game shows and other non-scripted programming.” Mitch has been with the network since 1999, and a director of publicity for the network since 2008, and worked on Under the Dome this sumer, in addition to being Big Brother ’s publicist for four years. In the press release, Castallo said, “As a publicist who has long and deep roots in all of our franchises, there wasn’t a more valuable candidate than Mitch. As our go-to guy for many years, his established relationships with our producers will be invaluab

Probst says Colton quit Survivor One World; Housewives star encourages marital rape

Awful Survivor cast member Colton Cumbie was medically evacuated his first season on the show, but Jeff Probst now says that Colton “engineered his own quit” last time. That’s what he appears to be doing in the preview for next week’s episode, and a new preview offers more of a hint as to what will happen. Also, frustratingly, while Probst insists Colton is “compelling,” he also said, “I could have done the season without him but that’s often the case when it comes to casting. We don’t all always agree on who should be on the show.” Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member Melissa Gorga has a new book, Love Italian Style: The Secrets of My Hot and Happy Marriage, and based on the highly disturbing excerpts highlighted by Jezebel, it’s beyond sexist and misogynistic. Besides the sickening attitudes she and her husband (Joe, Teresa Giudice’s brother) have about what constitutes a healthy relationship, Melissa actually endorses what is basically marital rape: “Men, I know you think yo

Tristan MacManus Feels The Dancing With The Stars Judges Could Be More Constructive

« Don’t Expect Twerking On Dancing With The Stars | Home September 17, 2013 11:54 AM by Lisa Princ The new season of Dancing With The Stars premiered last night and Valerie Harper received a standing ovation. However, despite the kind comments from the judges, Harper’s partner, Tristan MacManus revealed that he would be perfectly fine if they were a little more constructive with Harper and himself! Of course the judges on Dancing With The Stars were going to be kind to Valerie Harper, who has been battling terminal cancer for months now, and shouldn’t even be alive according to her doctors…how can you not be kind? She is definitely inspirational to all of us watching, and the crowd gave her a standing ovation last night for her courage. After her performance, her partner, Tristan MacManus walked away from her, and into the crowd to join them as they gave the actress a huge applause. However, Tristan MacManus, who was thrilled with how well their routine went last night, also feels t

New Girl season 3 premiere spoilers: Nick & Jess head on a romantic break that doesn’t go to plan

Home > American TV Shows > New Girl season 3 premiere spoilers: Nick & Jess head on a romantic break that doesn’t go to plan September 17th, 2013 by Nick Barnes. The best news of the day is that New Girl is set to return to FOX this evening with its season three premiere. As happens with quite a few premiere episodes, we basically know most of what is going to happen thanks to the likes of Comic-Con , the TCA Press Tour, interviews with the cast and of course, trailers released by the network. What we know about tonight’s premiere episode of New Girl is that it kicks off right where season 2 left off. Of course, season 2 left off right after Cece’s failed wedding and there’s the aftermath of that to deal with. Not only that, Nick and Jess headed out for a romantic trip to Mexico to cement their love for one another. However, it doesn’t quite go to plan. As Nick and Jess drive across the border to Mexico, Nick has forgotten his passport and he ends up trying to do a runner

New Tricks Episode Eight : Amanda Redman shines in Sandra’s final episode

Home > Crime > New Tricks Episode Eight : Amanda Redman shines in Sandra’s final episode September 17th, 2013 by Matt D. In my review of last week’s New Tricks I complained that not much had been done to set up Sandra’s exit as tonight’s instalment would be Amanda Redman’s final appearance. I did however theorise that the introduction of War Crimes Inspector Max Clement. While Clement’s continued presence in the episode was a large contributing factor to Sandra’s departure, a lot of her decision was due to the fact that she finally got closure on a case that has haunted her for the majority of her career. The case in question relates to the 1985 murder of young art student Joanna Beck who was last seen entering a park to meet a woman who’d commission ed her to paint picture of her. Around the same time, a lot of other students reported that they’d been approached by a jogger who attempted to coerce them into joining him. Sandra always believed that the jogger had abducted and

Cold Justice leads to mistrial, murder confession

The broadcast of the first episode of TNT’s new reality series Cold Justice led to a confession of murder from the suspect, but also affected potential jurors. The first episode of the Dick Wolf- and Magical Elves-produced series, which follows a prosecutor and CSI as they examine cold cases, was about the 2001 death of Pamela Shelly, which was initially ruled a suicide. But on Tuesday, Ronnie Hendrick was sentenced to 22 years in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to her murder and signing a confession. Cold Justice prosecutor Kelly Siegler told the Houston Chronicle, “I’m surprised that it happened so quickly. I think for the first time Ronnie Hendrick was confronted by a world of his own people looking him in the face and telling him what they thought of his explanation.” He was indicted last October, after the investigation documented in the episode, and trial was to begin Monday, but a mistrial was declared because more than a third of jurors had watched the show, and 20 of t

Big Brother Spoiler: A Change Of Plans?

« Tristan MacManus Feels The Dancing With The Stars Judges Could Be More Constructive | Home September 17, 2013 12:30 PM by Lisa Princ The Big Brother finale countdown continues, and this week we watched as GinaMarie won the first round of the battle for HoH, and the feeds let us know who won the second round. Now, if you’ve been keeping up on our posts, then surely you know what the house guests have planned thus far. However, it seems as though some may be changing their minds. Uh oh…. This week on Big Brother, GinaMarie won the first round of the HoH competition for the finale, and we then learned that Andy won the second round. This means that Andy and GinaMarie will face off for the final HoH spot. We also heard both of them vow (twice) to take the other one to the final two if they win. But while they were both laughing about Spencer’s strategy to try and convince them both that they would better off by taking him, it seems as though one of them is considering it. GinaMarie ha

Marcus Samuelsson replaces Brian Malarkey on The Taste

ABC’s The Taste , which is returning for an improbable second season, has replaced its winning judge/mentors, former Top Chef contestant Brian Malarkey, with Chopped judge Marcus Samuelsson. Malarkey’s contract wasn’t renewed; he said in a very nice statement earlier this summer that “Being a part of ABC’s The Taste was a great experience, especially mentoring one of my chefs all the way to the finish line and taking home the win. I am of course disappointed to part ways and not return for season 2, but onward and upward!” If anything, I hope his exit means the end of the lame fake rivalry nonsense that the producers pushed during the first season between Malarkey and Ludo Lefebvre, who is returning. Perhaps producers and the network will also fix the show’s other problems, too. View the original article here

The Mindy Project season 2 premiere spoilers: Mindy is air lifted back to New York and Danny & Christina have problems in the bedroom

FOX is set to own the TV this evening as New Girl and The Mindy Project are kicking off the new season in style. This evening, The Mindy Project is set to return for its sophomore season and it looks like it’s going to be a brilliant premiere episode. Mindy ends up in hospital and she gets replaced by none other than a Dr. Leotard. As we saw at the end of the first season, Mindy chopping her weave off and headed out to Haiti with her minister boyfriend, Casey. She originally didn’t want to go, then changed her mind and then decided she wanted to go and volunteer with Casey in Haiti for 12 months. The episode kicks off this evening as Casey and Mindy are adjusting to their new life in Haiti, living in a tent the size of a box. However, Mindy’s worst nightmare – or even all her b

How Capture created its own game system, network

One of the questions I had about production of The CW’s Capture —how exactly the tracking and game technology works, especially the screens on the contestants’ wrists—has been answered by an informative, behind-the-scenes feature. In it, the show’s game technology producer, Matt Lewis, says “the technology you see in the show wasn’t fake for TV, it was all real.” He talks about the wireless network they created in the wilderness (where there was no power) and the technology the players wear, including their wrist screen/phone (a “customized Android device”) that connects them to the producers via software they created. That’s visible in the video below, as are other behind-the-scenes things, like wireless routers strapped to trees and makeshift cell phone towers. View the original article here

Dublin 07? James Bond being filmed in Ireland? Guinness, St Patrick & the River Liffey

With the news that James Bond producers have Ireland on their shortlist of locations for the next film, Ladbrokes are taking bets on possible landmarks and personalities that could be featured. The firm are offering odds of 5/1 that the movie will capture Agent 007 jumping into the River Liffey and 25/1 he will scale O’Connell Street’s 398 foot Spire. A shoot-out in the Capital’s famous Shelbourne Hotel is priced at 20/1 and it’s just 13/2 a chase scene on the Luas will be included in the hit flick. Locations outside Dublin are also listed in the betting, with the bookmaker offering 33/1 for Bond to go surfing in Sligo and 40/1 that a high-speed car chase will be recorded around the winding roads of the Dingle peninsula. It’s 33/1 that a night scene will be recorded in hot spot Krystle or Copper Face Jacks and 28/1 that Hollywood’s mo

Jennifer Lopez Turns Up At The Premiere Of Dancing With The Stars

Jennifer Lopez and her boyfriend, Casper Smart, were there to support her best friend, Leah Remini as she made her dancing debut with professional partner, Tony Dovolani. Jennifer Lopez and Leah Remini may seem like an odd pairing for celebrity besties, but the twosome have been tight for years. Jennifer stood by her best friend’s side during her recent split with the Church of Scientology so it was no surprise to see her front and center to cheer on her best friend during her Fox Trot. Having a full-fledged superstar in the audience seemed to excite some of the other contestants. Christina Milian tweeted, “Omg @JLo is here?!!? I gotta Dance in front of Jenny From the Block!? Lol! Brooklyn Nine-Nine premiere spoilers: There’s a new captain in town and Peralta gets a dressing down

Home > American TV Shows > Brooklyn Nine-Nine premiere spoilers: There’s a new captain in town and Peralta gets a dressing down September 17th, 2013 by Nick Barnes. Brooklyn Nine-Nine is one of the brand new series’ that we’re really looking forward to here at Unreality TV. Andy Samberg is better known for playing the mysterious and quite evil character of Junior on Under the Dome at the moment on CBS, but his role on Brooklyn Nine-Nine will show him in a completely different light. Brooklyn Nine-Nine stars Samberg as Detective Jake Peralta. He is a talented, but carefree police detective at Brooklyn’s 99th precinct who, along with his eclectic group of colleagues, are used to having a lax captain around the office. However, things will change on tonight’s show when Captain Ray Holt (Andre Braugher) turns up to whip the officer into shape, especially Peralta. Jake’s colleagues are a brilliant and capable bunch, but they have a lack of discipline and leadership. Ultimately, the

A&E's badly acted, scripted Modern Dads illustrates why Duck Dynasty is so special

The success of Duck Dynasty continues to astound everyone, apparently even its own network, because based on its new series Modern Dads , it seems that not even A&E understands what makes its own show so great. (Of course, many cable networks are churning out scripted shit masquerading as reality TV, and A&E is not alone here.) A&E paired the shows together, and while Modern Dads clearly benefits from its lead-in—it’s the second-most popular cable show Wednesday nights—it had well under half of the viewers of its lead-in last week. I think/hope that at least some of that is because the bearded guys’ antics feel authentic, while the dads’ shenanigans do not. I try to have some faith in people to be discerning viewers. The shows are similar in that they’re about real families and people who seem kind and caring, and who like to have fun. Modern Dads has a great and relevant concept, following fathers who are their children’s primary caregivers, even although the anxiety a

Snooki Admits That She No Longer Talks To Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino

« Big Brother Spoiler: A Change Of Plans? | Home September 17, 2013 01:00 PM by Lisa Princ Prior to the season 17 premiere of Dancing With The Stars , fans were hoping (and praying) that Snooki did not get dance lessons from Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino, who was downright embarrassing when he was on the show. Luckily for Snooki (and viewers everywhere), the pint sized former Jersey Shore star admitted that she no longer talks to Sorrentino! Thank goodness for small favors, right? Honestly, could you even imagine having to sit back and watch more horrific Jersey Shore moves on Dancing With The Stars ? Luckily, we won’t have to, because Snooki did not get any tips or tricks from her former co-star and DTWS alum, Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino. In fact, Snooki told People Magazine recently that she doesn’t even talk to him anymore. “I haven’t heard from him in like a year and a half,” Snooki revealed of Sorrentino, who recently spoke to the media and blamed Dancing With The Stars f

The lives and deaths of Buckwild's Shain Gandee, Storm Chasers' Tim Samaras

Storm Chasers star Tim Samaras and Buckwild star Shain Gandee both died this year: Tim was chasing a massive tornado in Oklahoma and died along with his son and Carl Young; Shain died earlier this spring while mudding with his uncle and a friend. Neither was being filmed at the time: Shain was on a break from from the second season of his MTV series, and the Discovery series was cancelled last year. Two new pieces of long-form journalism report on their lives and deaths, including the storm chasers’ minutes, which were captured on tape by another storm chaser who escaped. Both deal with loss for their stars: for Samaras, it was a “significant source of funding for TWISTEX” that went away when Discovery cancelled the series; for Gandee, it was a loss of his privacy as a result of his sudden celebrity. Both pieces also defy summary, especially Vulture’s look at Shain’s life, which is a smart look at how reality TV and fame have evolved. They’re definite must-reads: View the original a

Home > Factual > Fabulous Fashionistas: This Cutting Edge film focuses on six women who are redefining old age and doing it in style September 17th, 2013 by Matt D. In this new Cutting Edge documentary, we explore the art of ageing through the stories of six extraordinary women. With an average age of 80, Bridget, Daphne, Jean, Gillian , Sue and Lady Trumpington have something inspirational in common – a determination to keep going, to look fabulous and to have fun. Without botox or plastic surgery, these women are redefining old age and doing it in style. Not one of them feels like an ‘old person’ and, in their own ways, they are defying the expectations of the ageing process. The documentary features uplifting, often poignant personal stories and insights into how staying young and dressing with style is about more than following the latest trends; it’s about an attitude to life itself. Dancing With The Stars Kicks Off Season 17 – How Did The Celebrities Do?

« Dancing With The Stars: Bill Nye Is ‘In It To Win It’ | Home | Amber Riley Performs A Show Stopping Cha-Cha-Cha On Dancing With The Stars » September 17, 2013 05:49 AM by Lisa Princ The new season of Dancing With The Stars kicked off last night and some of the celebrities definitely rocked the dance floor, while others seemed a bit stiff. So, who topped the leader board? And whose performance brought everyone to tears? Details inside! Dancing With The Stars kicked off last night and it seems as though they may have hit the jackpot this season with good dancers. Even Len admitted at the end of the show that he has never given out so many 7's or 8's so early in a season. Topping the leaderboard for the premiere was Glee star, Amber Riley who earned a whopping 27 with her partner, Derek Hough for their Cha Cha Cha. Amber proved that women don’t have to be stick thin to shake it – she definitely inspired us! On the other end of the spectrum was Bill Nye, who admitted recently

CBS vs. Probst on Survivor returnees; Seacrest's popularity dropping; Style network gone, G4 survives

Jeff Probst is Survivor ’s showrunner and gets a lot of shit for his decisions, including from me, but as he told Dalton Ross, he doesn’t get his way when it comes to the kind of returnees the show casts: “If I had my way and I was the only decision maker on Survivor — which I am clearly not — I would have a lot of people from earlier seasons. There are tons of people I want to see play again, but the prevailing wisdom at the network is, we need recent players with bigger names. That’s what’s drawing people in. Clearly CBS and Les Moonves know what they’re doing,” he said. I wish they did, but in this case, I’m with Probst 100 percent. Fewer Coltons, more Gervases. Million Second Quiz , the 24/7 Ryan Seacrest-hosted NBC game show that one review called “confusing and boring” hasn’t earned great ratings. I liked it better when it featured a physical challenge, was hosted by Marc Summers, and was called Double Dare. Anyway, its tepid ratings prompted Time magazine to look at Seacrest’s

Whodunnit's possible season two: celebrity contestants? motives? new location?

A second season of Whodunnit is a possibility, and could even feature celebrity contestants, according to its executive producer, CSI creator Anthony Zuiker, who has kept the game play of the show alive since the season finale with a special Twitter version. Zuiker told me that Whodunnit was “the best experience of my career,” because “the team was so great” and ABC “was very hands-off and very trusting.” A week after the show ended, in part because of reaction from fans who were missing the show, he began spending 7 to 8 hours every few days to run mini-versions of Whodunnit ’s game on his personal Twitter account, giving clues in locations and even having challenges. He said that the Twitter experiment resulted in some “happy accidents,” including direct messaging challenge winners additional clues. The ninth and final episode starts at 3 p.m. ET today, and the game’s winner will be flown to L.A. to spend time with Zuiker on the set of Whodunnit ’s second season—“pending that we g

iTunes Festival 2013 Day 17 Preview: Ludovico Einaudi performs tonight

Home > Music > iTunes Festival 2013 Day 17 Preview: Ludovico Einaudi performs tonight September 17th, 2013 by Martin Lamont. The iTunes Festival has been one of the best I can remember in terms of the line up. We’ve had some of the worlds biggest bands, solo artists and we’re not done yet. Tonight Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi  will take to the stage at the Roundhouse in London from 9pm. Ludovico Einaudi isn’t a name familiar to many, not unless you’re a big classical music fan or pay close attention to who writes film and TV music pieces. Einaudi  was born in November 1995 and is an Italian pianist and composer. He trained in Milan at the Conservatorio Verdi in the early 1980s with composer Lucaiano Berio. Einaudi  initially began his career as a classical composer but it didn’t take him long to incorporate other genres and styles including folk music, rock, world music and even pop. If we look at some of the films and TV scores Einaudi  has composed then perhaps you ma

Julie Chen's plastic surgery secret: not a secret since 2004

As part of The Talk’s premiere week stunt, during which each host revealed a never-before-revealed secret, Big Brother host Julie Chen confessed to having plastic surgery. That’s been rumored and speculated about for years, except she already already confessed to plastic surgery in 2004. On Wednesday’s episode, Julie said that she had plastic surgery as a result of racism. When she was a news reporter in Ohio, she was told she couldn’t be an anchor “because you’re Chinese” and had “Asian eyes.” Later, Julie said, “This one big-time agent basically told me the same thing … he said, ‘I cannot represent you unless you get plastic surgery to make your eyes look bigger.” Julie told The Talk’s co-hosts and viewers, “I did it,” and showed a photo of her in 1996 pre-surgery and post-surgery to illustrate “how dramatic this surgery really was.” She added that after her surgery, “The ball did roll for me. And I struggle with, wow. Did I give into the man and do this?” To tease the stunt, Julie

« Dancing With The Stars Kicks Off Season 17 – How Did The Celebrities Do? | Home September 17, 2013 06:20 AM by Suzy Kerr For the last four seasons the cast of Glee have been saying that the cast is like a family. On Monday’s premier of Dancing With the Stars they proved it! Several cast members came out to support Amber Riley and her pro partner Derek Hough as they showed the other contestants that they may be the team to beat. When Tom Bergeron sat down with Amber Riley before her performance on the season 17 premiere of Dancing With the Stars , the Glee star seemed nervous and a bit shy. But when she took to the dance floor, shy was the last word you would use to describe her performance. Amber and her partner — 4-time champ — Derek Hough performed a Cha-Cha-Cha that left the judges in awe. Bruno Tonioli saud, “You are the tigress of Season 17!” Carrie Ann Inaba then violently bowed to her, exclaiming, “You turned that Cha-Cha out, I’m that breathless.” Finally, Len Goodman sai

Tim Gunn, Heidi Klum win Emmy for best reality TV hosts

Project Runway host Heidi Klum and mentor Tim Gunn have won the Emmy for outstanding host for a reality or reality competition program, the first pair to win the award. Meanwhile, CBS’ Undercover Boss won for outstanding reality program again. Klum and Gunn are the third and fourth winners in the category’s six year history; Tom Bergeron broke Jeff Probst’s streak last year; Probst wasn’t nominated this year. How exactly Heidi qualifies as a host and not just a judge is another question altogether, although she was nominated by herself in 2008, 2009, and 2010. All these awards were presented at the Creative Arts ceremony on Saturday. Other winners included Deadliest Catch for best editing and Top Chef: Last Chance Kitchen for creative achievement in interactive media. The best reality competition will be announced Sunday during the prime-time Emmy broadcast. Don’t Expect Twerking On Dancing With The Stars

Several current cast members agree that twerking is not about to become part of their dancing repertoire. From Harry Styles at the Teen Choice Awards to Miley Cyrus at the VMAs, we’ve witnessed our fair share of twerking these past few months. But even more of it on Dancing With The Stars? It’s Bruno’s dream come true, but a complete nightmare for those actually taking the stage. Leah Remini is particularly against the idea, having told USA Today, “You couldn’t pay me to do that. An early win for Dancing with the Stars' great cast

Dancing with the Stars ’ cast follows pretty much the same formula that it has for its previous 16 seasons—Disney Channel star; beloved, older, comedic star; reality TV cast member; athlete; et cetera—but for several reasons, this cast stands out, and the first episode convinced me to keep watching a show I gave up on years ago. I grew tired of the show’s formula: the band mangling pop songs, the carefully crafted clip packages, Brooke’s pointless questions, Bruno needing to be strapped into his chair. It was totally predictable, and not worth waiting around for a potentially interesting dance; So You Think You Can Dance fell into a similar rut recently. (A formula isn’t the problem on its own: Survivor follows a pretty familiar formula episode to episode, season to season, but I’d never call it predictable.) But I’m back to watching Dancing with the Stars for now, thanks to season 17’s combination of its new one-night-a-week schedule and what really seems like its best cast ever.

Big Brother renewed for season 16; summer of bigotry a ratings success

Big Brother has been renewed for a 16th season less than a week before its 15th-season finale. This season has been a hit for CBS, as the parade of bigotry and bad behavior, which has continued, gave the show increased ratings and a final four that includes two of the biggest offenders (GinaMarie and Spencer). Here’s what CBS said in a press release about the ratings, not about the awful behavior by the people that helped them rake in cash this summer: “This summer, Big Brother is averaging 7.29 million viewers, 2.6 in adults 18-49 and 3.1 in adults 25-54. Compared to last year, BIG BROTHER is up +11% in viewers, +8% in adults 18-49 and +7% in adults 25-54.” View the original article here

Why the sudden flood of Survivor- and Amazing Race-style shows this summer?

The summer brought several brand-new reality series that offered some excellent, entertaining television. Some of them also seemed very, very familiar, like Survivor and The Amazing Race had a really hot night nine months ago and now their offspring is running around the world. Reality shows have been borrowing from each other since they started borrowing from The Real World . And there have been no shortage of Survivor -style series in the 13 years since CBS and Mark Burnett brought the show to the United States. But the summer of 2013 stands out for giving us a surprising number of wilderness- and survival-focused shows that take visual, structural, and casting cues from Survivor , starting with a series that looked and felt like a Lost version of Survivor , which is ironic because Survivor inspired the creation of Lost. NBC’s Siberia is fictional, but started off presented like a reality competition, and that held together pretty convincingly, at least until the show broke the fo
