NBC's Voice promo during the Super Bowl: easily one of the best ads of the night

The ads that aired during the Super Bowl tonight were mostly misses, I think, from the Teleflora ad that insisted giving flowers results in receiving oral sex to the Fiat ad with faux semen, aired on the network that wouldn’t air a reality show with real semen. But I digress. Some of the ads were good, but NBC’s promo department really hit a home run—er, got a touchdown—with this spot for The Voice . It’s perfection from start to finish. X Factor's great Super Bowl ads: Simon Cowell reassembled, pop stars have "it" (video)

X Factor »     by Andy Dehnart / February 6, 2011, 9:10 PM Former American Idol judge Simon Cowell has been absent from TV for less than a year, but in this Super Bowl ad that aired during the third quarter, he gets reassembled to the tune of “O Fortuna.” A lot of the pieces that fly through the air in the ad are Xs, because this is a commercial for the fall debut of The X Factor , but I’m not sure what the metaphor is. Maybe that Fox is a mess without Simon, who is a super-human Terminator-like being who can be smashed but not destroyed? Or that he was in pieces at the end of his Idol run but now he’ll return stronger and more powerful than ever? Watch the ad and give it your best guess: Update: Here’s the second ad, which aired during Glee. It features pop stars including Justin Bieber, Will I Am, and Madonna, and says they’ve “got it,” asking “Have you got it?” The first was good, but this one is really excellent. From the music to the emotional connection it creates by showing si...

"America's Next Top Model" mini-cap: Super smize it

Just to warn you, I'm all torn up inside about this week's episode of America's Next Top Model . I'm going to try to keep my composure during the recap but I cannot be held responsible for the venom I have in my heart. We pick up where we left off: The girls piled into a limo back home and a few of them discussed where they may have gone wrong. Bianca vows to keep her mouth shut and not allow her disappointment or irritability show to the judges. The following morning, the ladies took a special trip to Wilhelmina Modeling Agency, one of the biggest and best and they don't care if you're short or ugly, you just have to have personality. Nigel gave the aspiring models the opportunity to meet with Shawn Patterson , the president of Wilhelmina. This bundle of sunshine warned the girls that being a petite model is even harder to break into than it is for the tall drinks of water. Nigel and Shawn gave each of the girls some one-on-one interview time and it started of...
