Finally! Big Brother erupts in strategy, tears, power shifts, and evictions

Those of us who’ve slogged through Big Brother all summer long finally got payoff last night, as power shifted completely from the beginning to the end of the episode and the duos twist officially ended, as there are no pairs of returning houseguests left. It was remarkably dramatic for an episode that was full of technical problems and seemed to have more commercials than content. We started with Daniele’s eviction, which seemed like it might not be a foregone conclusion, especially after late-night Wednesday conversations that included Rachel learning Jeff had thrown the veto competition leading up to Brendon’s eviction. That gave Daniele “a glimmer of hope in red extensions,” she said, especially since she also convinced Shelly to vote with her. Rachel told us, “As much as I hate her guts, keeping Daniele just might be a better game move”—but then she voted to evict Daniele anyway, saying, “I vote to evict bad game play and backstabbers.” Rachel later called Daniele “pretty much a

Sick Big Brother fans threaten Shelly and her family with death, rape; express their hatred

Some extraordinarily stupid and horrible people are threatening Big Brother 13 houseguest Shelly Moore and her family, at least in part because Shelly’s vote sent beloved Jeff Schroeder out of the game on Thursday. Saturday, executive producer Allison Grodner pleaded on Twitter , “No matter how much you dislike an HG, this is wrong! True BB fans do not try to ruin lives. Please stop!” That’s a reference to some horrific behavior from a significant number of people who are severely overreacting by hating a person because of their actions on a reality TV show, which they think justifies their threats, libel, or other awfulness. As Yakkity Yaks first noted , fans’ “hate speech has gone to a whole new level. People are posting phone numbers and e-mails to Shelly’s work, urging others to call to get her fired from her job. They are urging people to help get Josie, Shelly’s young daughter, kicked out from her school. They are posting Child Social Service numbers, and asking that everyone ca

Choosing an Antique Engagement Ring

The first well documented diamond engagement ring, was given as far back as 1477, by Archduke Maximilian of Austria. Diamonds have since become a mark of dedication and everlasting love. The endless popularity of diamonds, has resulted in trouble inside the industry. For a growing group of men and women, this conflict can make diamond rings an undesirable gift. The emergence of fair trade diamond and gold industries is starting to have an impact, however, some people can’t afford this option, as fairtrade diamonds will cost more. The good news, however, is that there happens to be completely fairtrade and ethical option to buying diamond rings. Antique diamond rings are in my opinion just as desirable as brand new diamond rings. The fact that a ring has lasted one century and is nonetheless desirable shows the standard of workmanship and design that has gone into creating the ring. Antique jewellery hasn’t been mass produced like modern jewellery is. When you purchase antique, you buy

Big Brother houseguest appears on Millionaire Matchmaker, says he's worth $10 million

A former Big Brother houseguest now says he’s worth $10 million, and appeared in last week’s season premiere of Bravo’s Millionaire Matchmaker . Michael Donnellan was the second person evicted from season six in 2005, where he was identified as an artist and was partnered with Kaysar, his neighbor. In his casting video , Michael says his “estimated asset value is over $10 million,” and talks about going from having a job that paid $70,000 or $80,000 a year to having a house in Cape Town, moving to Dubai for work, and buying an Aston Martin. Michael organized a date that led to a fight with Patti Stanger, which ended with her kicking him out of the Millionaire’s Club and him “calling her a whore in Italian,” according to TV Geek Army’s recap . The video of the date is included in the “dates with awkwardness” category on Bravo’s (still awful after all these years) web site, which says it is among “the most cring-worthy dates in Matchmaker history.” But from the clip below, it doesn’t

What Therapeutic Window and Google Have in Common When You’re Talking About Continuing Medical Education

Google’s the hottest word on everybody’s tongue these days-and I do mean everybody. It doesn’t matter whether you’re talking about searching for something in the vast reaches of cyber space, video chatting with your sister in the Philippines or running a hassle-free email server, the first place you’re going to look is…okay, probably Skype for the video chat, but Google is owning the field everywhere else. With the launch of Google+, those numbers are climbing even higher. With that in mind, it shouldn’t come as any surprise to anybody that Therapeutic Education (www.syschlagersite.com), a rising star in the field of continuing medical education, has a few things in common with the giant of the Internet world. When you’re doing it right, you’re doing it right. Right? While discussing why she left the show, Sally said, “I wanted to get back into comedy and that wasn’t going to happen with Shelley because she’d turned into this very dramatic character… “Don’t get me wrong, this was fabulous – but I wanted to get back to what I started out for really.” On the subject of being recognised as Shelley, Sally added, “You are Shelley until you get the next huge part o
