No comments As fans of Emmerdale will know, Jason Merrells’ character Declan Macey is going through a tough time at the moment, having learned that he isn’t Mia’s (Sapphire Elia) real father… But Jason reckons that the crisis will bring Declan and his girlfriend Katie Sugden (Sammy Winward) closer together. Speaking to the PA, Jason said of Declan and Katie’s fledgling romance, “It’s a little bit of rebound, but I think he likes her a lot. “They’ve got good chemistry together. The star was seen in London with cameraman from her ITV2 shows. If she’s not in the news for her spats, then it’s for her evening rendezvous with new beaus. This week, Katie was seen out in London with a mystery man who has been revealed as a cameraman who works on reality television shows. Well, she would know enough about that subject to make plenty of conversation. Ben Alger, who has worked with Katie on her reality shows for ITV2 since 2009, was seen a numerous bars with the singer before the pair left hand in hand and went back to the Dorchester Hotel in the small hours of the morning. According to the Daily Star, Katie described Alger as “ a younger brother” to her, although recently they have grown closer and have frequently been seen flirting with each other. The former ‘GMTV’ host was named entertainment editor when her old show was replaced and while she understands the need for a change in programming, the blonde presenter admits she found it difficult to adapt at first. She said: “Nobody likes change. For all of us that worked at ‘GMTV’, we were always very grateful and we knew how fond people were of the show. And we were always really pleased to work on something that people liked so much. “But things had to change. ‘Daybreak’ is a new show and it’s got all sorts of new things. It just takes time for people to get used to the changes.” Kate also admitted she feels lucky in her new role because she gets to hang out with so many Hollywood stars, and also guest host the main show when regular presenter Christine Bleakley is away.
