CBS sets Big Brother schedule, debut date

Big Brother 13 will debut on July 7 and air on nearly the same schedule it did last year: Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. However, the Thursday live show has been moved to 9 p.m. ET, while the Wednesday and Sunday episodes will both continue to air at 8. Last year, the show moved to Wednesdays and all of its episodes aired at 8 p.m. CBS’ announcement offered no details about the new season or its twist, nor did it mention the broadcast of After Dark on Showtime. However, the network did announce that its show Same Name , a reality series following quasi-celebrities swapping lives with someone who shares their name, will air after Big Brother on Sunday nights starting on July 24. From reality TV to the White House | The Hays Free Press

Young-at-Large by JOHN YOUNG History calls on Rob Dyrdek. A nation awaits word. Run for president, Rob. Run as a Republican. You have what it takes. Mainly, and most importantly, you have a reality television show. Make that two. That makes you doubly qualified. One could not help but think of Dyrdek, he of MTV’s “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory,” the other day when Donald Trump appeared before the Conservative Political Action Conference and all but announced he’s running. He told the crowd that he’s anti-abortion and pro-gun, and with his own reality TV show, he’s as close to qualified as one can get to the GOP nomination, judging by the prospective field. Trump joins reality TV figure Sarah Palin as both make moves toward throwing their hair in the ring. When Trump does, he will have broken the by-now-accepted rule for becoming a Republican presidential contender: Quit your job. Write a book. Get on the Fox News payroll. Mush for face time like it’s the Iditarod. Mitt Romney, you pike

Glee – season 2 episode 21 – Funeral – spoilers and picture gallery!

Home > American TV Shows > Glee – season 2 episode 21 – Funeral – spoilers and picture gallery! May 10th, 2011 by Lisa McGarry. 3 Comments Glee ’s funeral episode is one of the most anticipated in the whole of season two. Matthew Morrison has revealed that one character from the hit Fox musical show will die during the penultimate episode of the current run and everyone is hoping their favourite is not in the frame! Matt recently said: “Somebody’s dying. Obviously I’m not going to tell you who it is, but it is no-one you would probably expect. “The episode right before the finale is called ‘Funeral’.” So who will it be? Well judging from the photos around the web and leaks from the show, we are pretty sure that Rachel, Finn, Kurt and Sue Sylvester are all safe but Dot-Marie Jones (Coach Bieste) and Lauren Zizes (Ashley Fink) did not show up in any of the funeral pics, which makes us wonder if one of them will be the unlucky one. The official synopsis for the instalment reads

Precisely why Reality TV Is actually Very good for People ...

For eight single professional females gathered in Dallas, it truly is holy Wednesday – the evening each week that they gather in one of their houses for the Traveling Bachelorette Party. Munching snacks and passing a wine beverage, they cheer, cry and cackle as their spiritual leader, Trista Rehn, braves heartache, indecision as well as the occasional recitation of bad poetry to choose from among her 25 swains. Yet a thing is unsettling Leah Hudson’s stomach, and it’s not simply the wine. “I hate that we have been sucked into the Hoover vac of reality TV,” says Hudson, 30. “Do we not have anything better to complete rather than to reside vicariously through numerous 15-minute-fame seekers?” There there is a substance of reality TV’s good results: it truly is normally the one mass-entertainment category that thrives due to its audience’s contempt for it. It makes us really feel tawdry, dirty, cheap – whether it did not, we most likely wouldn’t bother tuning in. As well as in this, for

Reality TV Will Kill TNA

It was a Friday night just like any other Friday night. I was on my computer, talking to my friends and watching WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) Friday Night Smackdown. I suddenly felt like Santa's Little Helper, the family dog on The Simpsons. On that show, there's one episode where the family is trying to train the animal. The dog obviously doesn't understand at first. Everything everyone says to him is interpreted as "Blah blah blah". Until finally, Bart continues to talk and finally the dog hears "Blah blah blah sit". The dog finally understands and sits. On a cold Friday night, I was that dog. I was browsing the Web, talking to someone on Skype and watching Smackdown. All of the sudden, from the mandating tone of Michael Coles blah blah blah, I hear "WWE Tough Enough coming to the USA Network." What? Could it be true? Could one of the most successful reality shows ever actually be coming back? This is genius! WWE Tough Enough was the

Baby names Maci and Bentley increased in popularity the most because of Teen Mom

Teen Mom » by Andy Dehnart / May 6, 2011, 11:27 AM MTV’s Teen Mom has affected baby names, as parents have increasingly named their newborns after Maci Bookout and her son Bentley. The Social Security Administration announced that “Maci and Bentley had the biggest jumps in popularity.” For boys, Bentley had a 414 percent change, going from the 515th to 101st most-popular name between 2009 and 2010. For girls, it was Maci, with a 423 percent change, going from the 655th most-popular name in 2009 to 232nd in 2010. Maci and Bentley, who were also on 16 and Pregnant , will return to the show for its third season this summer; Teen Mom has also been renewed for a fourth season. The name with the second-greatest jump in popularity was Giuliana, and while I can’t imagine Style’s Giuliana & Bill is popular enough to impact that, it is an unusual enough name that it very well may have been. So yes, people actually name their kids after reality TV stars and other famous people. Among

Film about Chaz Bono's transition from female to male kicks off OWN's documentary series

Tonight, Oprah’s new network OWN debuts its Documentary Club by airing a documentary film from the producers of RuPaul’s Drag Race that follows Sonny and Cher’s child Chaz Bono’s transition from female to male. Becoming Chaz debuted at Sundance earlier this year and is directed by World of Wonder’s Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato, and its television debut on OWN at 9 p.m. ET will be followed by a one-hour special and discussion about the film called The Doc Club with Rosie O’Donnell at 10:30. Chaz’s memoir, Transition: The Story of How I Became a Man , is also out today. The film is about the person formerly known as Chastity Bono as he transitions to life as a man, a journey he takes with the support of his lesbian girlfriend Jennifer Elia, and which includes everything from hormone treatments to the removal of his breasts. While gay and bisexual people have been part of nonfiction TV and film for years, stories of transgendered people are far less common, just as being transgender

Behind-the-scenes footage of Muppets annoying Padma: awesome

Top Chef 8 » by Andy Dehnart / February 19, 2011, 9:43 AM One of the many highlights of reality television this last week was the Muppets guest judging the quickfire challenge on Top Chef All Stars, and it was particularly entertaining to watch them get on Padma Lakshmi’s nerves. Bravo has released behind-the-scenes footage as they adjust lighting and audio and Padma goes over her lines (from a script, which is interesting), and Cookie Monster keeps interrupting Padma as she practices. (Cookie Monster must be a fan of Gail Simmons.) Also really awesome is that, apparently, crew members with kids brought them to the set to see the Muppets in person. View the original article here

Reality T.V. and the Effects On Youth

Feb 22, 2011 Richard Mccaa Reality television has dominated the television industry. There are educational reality shows and noneducational reality shows. They both have their entertainment values. The difference is one is productive television, and one is counterproductive. "There is good and bad in everything." This is a very true statement. Everything is good in moderation as well. The argument being raised is that counterproductive t.v. is taking over productive t.v. The time slots to watch educational reality shows are generally later in the evening. It is almost as if t.v. is trying to "dumb down America." As it is the powers that be who control prime time television are the ones who control the time slots for which shows go in. These people that control what we watch have target audiences. They have targeted the youth to display these noneducational reality shows. When I refer to noneducational reality t.v. I am referring to shows like Keeping Up With The K

Cheryl Cole officially, finally, really, for real this time, seriously confirmed as X Factor judge

X Factor » by Andy Dehnart / May 5, 2011, 11:59 AM Fox announced today that pop singer Cheryl Cole will be a judge on its fall singing competition The X Factor , officially, finally confirming what was initially rumored seven months ago. She will join other judge L.A. Reid and executive producer Simon Cowell, who judged alongside Cheryl on the UK version of the show. In a press release quote that actually sounds like it came from the person it’s attributed to, Simon said, “I’m thrilled for Cheryl. She is massively excited about this show, and has been fantastic to work with. She is also a complete brat! Most importantly, this girl can spot talent.” Cheryl, who is a singer but not Paula “Where Have All the Cowboys Gone?” Cole, said in the press release, “I just can’t decide whether I am more excited to find and nurture the talent or for the unbelievable amount of amusement and entertainment I will have watching Simon doing everything and anything he can to beat me.
