Take That (and their Riot police) perform Kidz on The Brit Awards 2011 (VIDEO)

February 15th, 2011 by Lisa McGarry. No comments Take That made a triumphant return to The Brit Awards as a five piece group tonight. It’s the first time the full band have performed on the show in over a decade and their first Brits performance since Robbie Williams rejoined the lineup. They showcased their new song Kidz….the one they were supposed to perform on the X Factor but Simon Cowell banned them because of their riot police backing dancers. Compared to Lady GaGa’s Grammy egg stunt it all seemed rather tame to us. It was a great vocal performance of an amazing anthem like tune. The song has one heel of a chorus and like The Flood before it, Robbie’s influence on the tune really shone through. The boys are up for two awards tonight, Best British Group and Best British album. You can check if they won on our full winners list here . We loved the staging, the costumes, the vocals and of course the always delectable Howard Donald. Did you enjoy the performance? Leave your comment...

No comments Four international police officers of differing ranks, are coming to the UK for five weeks, in a new series, Police Academy UK, for BBC Three. The officers are on a fact-finding mission. They have questions they think only the UK has the answers to. They will spend time with three different forces in the UK, chosen for the types of crime with which they deal. The international officers will live with each other throughout their stay, and get a true sense of the way we order ourselves as a country. What they see during their stay is a far cry from the police work they do in their home countries of Colombia, Samoa, Zambia and Western Australia. During their time in the UK, the four international officers gradually get to grips with British culture and crime and at the end of their stay, they return home to implement some new ideas they’ve learned on their mission. But will the Brit...

Police deny Al Qaeda threat reports for Coronation Street live episode

December 9th, 2010 by Sarah. No comments As we reported earlier today, a tabloid newspaper claimed that Greater Manchester Police were taking seriously a purported Al Qaeda threat to target the set of Coronation Street tonight during the show’s live broadcast… However, a GMP spokesperson has now denied the claim. Superintendent Jim Liggett issued the denial to The Bolton News, saying, “I want to clarify that we have categorically not been made aware of any threat from Al-Qaeda or any other [terrorist] organisation. “Quite simply, Granada approached GMP to inform us they were employing a private security firm to help ensure tonight’s live programme went ahead without outside interference… “As part of their operation they asked for police assistance and we agreed to deploy a very small number of officers and PCSOs to help patrol the set’s perimeter fence. “This small police operation will be paid for by Granada and will not cost taxpayers an extra penny. “To reiterate, there is no speci...
