Chad Rogers insists his decision to leave Million Dollar Listing wasn't "mutual" by having his lawyer threaten a TV critic

Bravo »     by Andy Dehnart / February 2, 2011, 12:50 PM Chad Rogers has left Bravo’s Million Dollar Listing , something we first learned last April , but the terms of his departure are so important that his lawyer has threatened a TV critic—even though the critic’s reporting is based on something Bravo’s president said. In addition, his lawyer also claimed “Chad enjoys extremely positive publicity.” The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Rob Owen reported on Monday that “Bravo executive Frances Berwick said his departure was a ‘mutual’ decision,” quoting the word “mutual.” Berwick also told him, “We’d done three seasons with the three of them and it was really time to bring in new blood. We found somebody who’s absolutely great in a complete different way from Chad.” But Chad’s lawyer, Wendy Heller, insisted in a highly ridiculous and aggressively aggrieved cease and desist letter to Owen that claim is “inaccurate and inflammatory information” and added, “This allegation is false, which you ...

Top Chef judges defend elimination decision

Top Chef All-Stars’ judges are defending their decision to send Casey Thompson home instead of Jamie Lauren, and they say it was simply because Casey’s food was inedible—perhaps because she volunteered to work in the dining room during the dim sum challenge, an example of a chef once again being eliminated for doing too much instead of taking the easy way out. (And it’s another somewhat controversial elimination for this season, which is perhaps inevitable considering the amount of talent.) Gail writes that “Casey’s was the most flawed, given that the chicken feet were cooked so poorly you were not really able to eat a full bite in order to gauge its flavor. Although Jamie’s dish was undercooked and bland, at least it was edible. I believe Casey’s downfall was not an inability to cook her food well, but the fact that she simply took on too much in the name of the ‘team’ and at her own expense.” And Tom addresses “all the Casey fans out there who are about to write in to tell me tha...

Jen Carroll freaks out after Top Chef All-Stars' first surprising decision

Top Chef 8 »     by Andy Dehnart / December 9, 2010, 5:47 PM Top Chef All-Stars is off to a strong start , and had its first controversial elimination and first freak-out last night, during an episode that guest starred Joe Jonas and season one host Katie Lee Joel, who had an even more bland personality than she did seven seasons ago, if you can call doing nothing with a blank stare a personality. Jennifer Carroll, who was nearly a finalist on the Las Vegas season, was eliminated. And then she freaked the fuck out. Jen was upset from the second her team walked into the room, standing in the line-up like she was either going to a) pee her pants any second or b) rush judges’ table and punch Tom Collichio in the spleen. “Jen, you seem really pissed off,” Padma finally said to her. When she was back in the stew room, Jen said, “I think I yelled at the judges more than they yelled at us,” and then added, “welcome to Jen all-stars.” For those who imagine the judges eliminated her for yellin...
