Big Brother's Rachel and Brendon on Amazing Race

Big Brother winner Rachel Reilly and her fiancee Brendon Villegas are among the cast members on The Amazing Race 20, which started taping this weekend. This will be the third season of a CBS reality show the couple has been on in less than 18 months. The source of this distressing news are a few photos taken at LAX Saturday night that were posted to Twitter. The people who are apparently Brendon and Rachel were photographed from behind on the concourse and from the side whole waiting at a gate (they’re on the right, both wearing black baseball caps; Brendon has a teal shirt and black track pants, and Rachel is wearing all black). That sighting is confirmed by both fans at LAX and by the moderator of the reliable TAR-stalking site Reality Fan Forum, which is working to identify teams and tracking the race in real time. (The site’s moderator had a cameo this season because of a contestant’s lost passport.) This follows the casting of Jeff Schroeder and Jordan Lloyd on season 16

Thanksgiving reality TV marathons

schedules »     by Andy Dehnart / November 23, 2011, 5:00 PM It’s Thanksgiving, and there is an alternative to Thursday’s orgy of calories and Friday’s orgy of consumerism: television. And along with day-long marathons of scripted shows, there are plenty of reality TV shows are here to provide comfort and fulfillment. This year, that includes a rerun of the entire Glee Project , the summer’s sleeper competition hit, and the Mythbusters -hosted Punkin Chunkin 2011, both of which will definitely be more entertaining than fighting with someone over the last $9 VCR. And you can shop online instead . Here’s a rundown of marathons over the next few days. Times are eastern, because that’s the best timezone. Have a great Thanksgiving. Man arrested for killing American Idol auditioner pleads out, won't be charged with her death

American Idol 7 auditioner Alexis Cohen was killed when a man fleeing police hit her , and now that man has agreed to a plea bargain that means he won’t be charged with her death in any way. The Asbury Park Press reports that Daniel Bark, 25, “pleaded guilty Monday to eluding police and drunken driving in a plea bargain in which additional charges related to the hit-and-run death of an American Idol hopeful will be dismissed.” Specifically, prosecutors will drop charges of “aggravated manslaughter, death by auto and knowingly leaving the scene of a fatal accident.” While he confessed to police, his lawyer says there’s no evidence he killed her, and the confession was thrown out because, the paper reports, police “did not advise Bark of his rights to remain silent and have an attorney present during questioning before they began interrogating him about Cohen’s death.” A different attorney who represented him when he was arrested told a newspaper in 2009 that Bark was on suicide watch

"America's Next Top Model: All-Stars" recap: "Making Dollars Out of Scents"

Well we made it everybody! We're finally in the home stretch of this cycle and it couldn't have come soon enough. As we start tonight's show  Lisa  is upset about Bre leaving but also adds that Bianca doesn't have a bodyguard anymore. Alexandria , looking the least fierce I've ever seen her, reminds us that the judges knocked her picture for looking like "a reality TV star" and I'm reminded what a joke that is considering the fact that they are on a reality TV show. They — Tyra included — need to get over themselves and probably shouldn't use that as a way to cut the contestants down, particularly considering who their guest judges have been so far. Shannon says she thinks the judges want more raunch from her. I think she just needs to stop being boring. Bianca is pissed that the house is full of cliques because now she doesn't have someone to back up all the whack crap that comes out of her mouth. Seriously, she seems to get into fights w

Chris Tarrant says other quiz shows “will never be as good” as Who Wants To Be A Millionaire

Home > Entertainment > Chris Tarrant says other quiz shows “will never be as good” as Who Wants To Be A Millionaire November 10th, 2011 by Sarah. No comments TV host Chris Tarrant has told the Daily Mirror that he doesn’t worry about rival game shows on telly as, in his opinion, they’ll never be as good as Millionaire. Last night’s edition of the show was a Remembrance Special which featured celebrities Hugh Bonneville , John Thompson and Melanie Sykes playing alongside members of the armed forces to raise money for a forces’ benevolent charity. And it was during an interview regarding that edition that Chris – who’s hosted Millionaire for 13 years – revealed that shows such as Red or Black? or Million Pound Drop don’t cause him any angst. He said, “Consistently over the last 13 years other shows have come along saying, ‘this is going to be the new millionaire’. “But the reality is that Millionaire is a one off, it’s such an extraordinary format – a format that has been so

Don’t Miss: Derren Brown: The Experiments – The Secret of Luck – 11.11.11

Home > Entertainment > Don’t Miss: Derren Brown: The Experiments – The Secret of Luck – 11.11.11 November 10th, 2011 by Sarah. No comments Tomorrow night, illusionist Derren Brown’s final installment of his current Channel 4 show ‘The Experiments’ ends with his trying to convince an entire town that they are lucky… In ‘The Secret of Luck’, we’ll hear how old wives tales and modern urban legend would have us believe that dates such as 11.11.11 are lucky – ditto for 7th July 2007 – and to see just how far people’s faith in such things can affect their actual lives, Derren enlisted the help of TV presenter Dawn Porter . She arrived in a Todmorden in Yorkshire to film a bogus documentary about a statue in the town. The tale Dawn told is that the statue, which is of a dog, has “special powers” and can bring those who touch it some luck. And while she was filming, the fake ‘lucky dog’ story even made it onto East Midlands evening news, showing their roving reporter stroking the dog

What is Web address Shorter and How To use it on the internet

There are several reasons to use URL shortening. The free hosting space provided by access Internet Service Providers for its customers may generate an aesthetically unpleasing address. Some web developers on mainstream sites tend to pass descriptive attributes in the URL to represent data hierarchies, command structures, transaction paths or session information and this often results in a URL that contains a large number of characters, is awkward to reproduce and impossible to remember. Copying a URL that is hundreds of characters long can only really be successfully done by copy-and-paste. Trying to type one by hand will be time-consuming and may result in errors. Thus a tiny url is more useful to write in an e-mail message or an internet forum post. On Twitter and some instant-messaging services, there is a limit on the total number of characters that can be used in a message. Using a URL shortener can make it easier to include a URL within a short message. Some shortening services

X Factor admits to obvious lip syncing, backing track usage

X Factor »     by Andy Dehnart / November 7, 2011, 7:19 AM The first results show for The X Factor continued the show’s tradition of plagiarizing heavily from American Idol by starting with a bad group number that was lip synced by the show’s contestants. Fox has admitted that the contestants lip sync group numbers and also use backing tracks for their live performances. (The UK version admitted auto-tuning its contestants’ performances ; Idol admitted to group performance lip syncing back in 2009.) On Thursday, group’s performance of “Without You” opened the show and was very obviously lip synced from the very start, well before LeRoy Bell forgot to raise the mic to his mouth when his track started, which means he’s getting unfair attention. Fox admitted that the contestants lip sync, telling TheWrap , “All survival songs are performed live, with just a backing track. For the group ensemble performance, the vocals are pre-recorded to allow acts to concentrate on preparing for thei

"America's Next Top Model: All-Stars" recap: It's all Greek to me

Today's post will be a little shorter than usual due to me being out way too late last night at the Antigone Rising / Daphne Willis show. I know some of you have been saying you'd like more photos and gifs in these, so I'll start off with this one: As sweet little Laura says at the beginning of the show, "And then there were six." I can't believe there are still that many — this "All Star" cycle feels like it's been going on since the last winter Olympics. Angelea starts out the same way she always does which is by telling us how much she wants this and how different this cycle is because it's for the All Stars. Shannon chimes in and says she didn't even want to do this but she gets thousands of letters from very boring little girls saying she is their role model and that has made her want to win this even more. Dominique says she misses her kids but it's pushing her to fight harder in the game. Angelea feels like Dominique is a

Channel 5 to air Kym Marsh, Kate Thornton and Jodie Marsh in ‘My Secret Teens’

Home > Entertainment > Channel 5 to air Kym Marsh, Kate Thornton and Jodie Marsh in ‘My Secret Teens’ November 10th, 2011 by Sarah. No comments Channel 5 have announced that next year, they will broadcast three documentaries under the overall title of ‘My Secret Teens’. In the films – which will feature Corrie star Kym Marsh , former Loose Women panelist Kate Thornton , and reality TV personality Jodie Marsh – we’ll see today’s teenagers talking about a variety of supposedly ‘taboo’ subjects, such as bullying, eating disorders, and teenaged pregnancy. Kym Marsh will present ‘Teen Mums and Me’ in which she’ll find out what it’s really like to be a teenaged mother in Britain today. She was herself just 19 when she had her first child , David. For her film, Jodie Marsh – who formerly starred in Celebrity Big Brother – will broach the subject of bullying, and will reveal that her own childhood was made a living hell by bullies after an accident ‘disfigured’ her nose. The torment

Survivor's social media takeover: weird

As part of CBS’ “Social Sweep Week,” a reference to November’s status as a month when TV ratings are used to make future decisions about advertising and programming, the network is letting casts and producers of its shows take over their official Facebook and Twitter accounts. The Amazing Race did this on Sunday, and today it’s Survivor’s turn on its Facebook page and Twitter account . The great thing about this is hearing directly from people involved—in this case, with the oldest and still one of the most-popular reality TV shows. The odd thing about this is it basically acknowledges that following the show on Facebook or Twitter means that we’re usually getting filtered, controlled information from publicists. And of course, we can just follow, say, Jeff Probst if we want to hear from him directly, instead of watching a special video in which he continues to try to get the atrocious phrase “interactive living room” to stick even while dropping a mild spoiler about tonight’s episo

Coronation Street star Antony Cotton isn’t leaving the show! Yay!

Home > Drama > Coronation Street star Antony Cotton isn’t leaving the show! Yay! November 10th, 2011 by Sarah. No comments It’s been reported today that despite having undertaken a stint in the jungle for this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Antony Cotton isn’t quitting Corrie! Phew! Antony, who of course plays Sean Tully , apparently asked for – and got – a clause written into his latest contract with Corrie that would enable him to take on other projects in addition to his work on the Street. So he’s now in Australia and getting ready to face his fears in the jungle, which include claustrophobia and a fear of bugs, snakes and anything creepy crawly. But he has reportedly had hypnotherapy recently to help him overcome his fears, but he reckons actually living with and confronting those things in the jungle will be the ultimate cure… And whilst the cognitive behavioural technique known as ‘flooding’ has proven very successful for some, for others, they have to go

Howard Stern may judge America's Got Talent, replacing Piers Morgan

Howard Stern may become the third judge on America’s Got Talent , joining Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel now that Piers Morgan has quit the show , and if he does, the show could move to New York City for its live shows. The satellite radio talk show host “is in talks with NBC” for “a $15 million a year sum to do the job,” the Wall Street Journal reports . His new job wouldn’t interrupt his Sirius XM Radio show, although the paper notes America’s Got Talent “is currently filmed on a CBS studio lot in Los Angeles but may relocate to New York for Mr. Stern, which would cost an additional $10 million.” I think that’s great casting and he’d be terrific. While Howard is frequently raunchy on the radio, especially now that he’s in an uncensored format, he can also be very smart and thoughtful (watch or read Private Parts for evidence), and that combination would work really well on the show. The only danger is if he treats the job as a complete joke, because Piers often provided the lone

Tom Bergeron's great idea: one season a year of Dancing with the Stars, which has its final four

Despite generating headlines with its cast at the start of the season, Dancing with the Stars’ ratings are down significantly, nearly 14 percent. Its host, Tom Bergeron, has a solution: cut one season. “One season a year works very well for American Idol. I certainly think that’s one of the things that should be considered going forward. I would be looking at the spring season very carefully,” he told TV Guide . Besides attention to CBS’ Monday comedies, Bergeron said the ratings might be down because of the cast. “You wonder if the cast isn’t resonating with people.” That cast is down to its final four: Rob Kardashian, Ricki Lake, J.R. Martinez, and Hope Solo, having dumped Nancy Grace during last night’s results show. While they may not have generated headlines like Chaz Bono did, they have “have shown the most improvement and best moves,” according to msnbc.com . View the original article here

Bafta adds a new reality TV category

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts, which awards Baftas, the UK’s version of Emmys, has added a new category for “reality and constructed factual” shows. The awards already have categories for”best factualy series” and “single documentary,” and one that includes variety, quiz, and game shows, in which The X Factor has won. In its announcement , the Academy said that its new category “will recognise programmes where participants are put into environments or formats and then observed interacting in situations devised by the producers.” While BBC News’ report clarifies that the category will include shows that “are a cross-pollination of soap opera and documentary, following real people going about their daily lives — but some storylines are constructed or initiated by producers in advance,” it notes that it could include a competition series such as I’m a Celebrity. So, this isn’t perfect—in a U.S. version of that category, shows as varied as The Hills and Survivor could

Hilarious video of Gordon Ramsay's unintentionally sexual cooking demonstrations

Videos that compile footage taken out of context are nothing new, but they’re still hilarious, whether it’s Survivor’s shampoo commercial or muppets talking dirty . Making the rounds this week is a video featuring Hell’s Kitchen and Masterchef judge and chef Gordon Ramsay talking dirty. He’s actually cooking, of course, but the combination of words and phrases he’s used on his Channel 4 Cookalong Live demonstrations can be arranged in a way that makes my inner fourth grader laugh hysterically. It’s very clever and a clearly, a lot of work went into it: View the original article here

Top Chef Texas' big mistake: copying lesser shows

Top Chef 9 »     by Andy Dehnart / November 10, 2011, 2:04 PM Top Chef Texas has aired two episodes now, but I’m going to pretend that next week’s is the first one, because otherwise I’d be ready to bail on this season because of produces’ horrible decision to copy other elimination shows as it narrowed a large pool of contestants down to 16. The franchise is in a deep, well-worn, boring rut , as Top Chef Just Desserts’ second season proved, so I can understand and appreciate the effort to try something new. What we got was pretty much a disaster: two episodes, four rounds, 29 contestants, none of which worked well at all. The three rounds of challenges were inconsistent in their level of difficulty, and the judging sucked; the judges should have smiled or frowned because that’s about the level of insight we got. But who cares when you don’t even know the person being eliminated? There were so many people and introductions that it was impossible to keep track of them—and why bother, s
