Oxygen’s The Glee Project has significantly increased its viewers since it debuted, making it the summer’s sleeper reality hit. After its low-rated premiere , the show has grown 115 percent among adults 18 to 49, 136 percent among viewers 12 to 24, and 77 percent among all viewers, according to an Oxygen press release , which calls this “impressive triple and double digit growth.” The show has an excellent cast; they are so raw and open and diverse that they make the fictional Glee characters seem pretty ridiculous by comparison. In the third episode, cast members confessed to being sexually assaulted by music producers; coming out as a junior in high school; and being judged in various ways. Pretty powerful stuff. And the show itself has some fresh twists on a familiar format (I wrote more about that when I reviewed its premiere ). Big Brother 13 started strong, with ratings that were higher than last summer’s debut, but while the show continues to win its timeslot during the slow summer months, about 1 million viewers have fled the show, perhaps to avoid hearing Rachel’s laugh. But the show easily beat Mark Burnett’s Expedition Impossible , which hit a series low in its ratings Thursday. While 7.71 million viewers watched Big Brother’s July 7 debut, an a 5 percent increase from last summer’s debut, only 6.73 million watched Cassi’s exit Thursday night, according to a CBS press release , which notes that “was the night’s top program in viewers and key demographics, posting across-the-board increases from last week.” That was down from 7.02 million people on Wednesday, but up from the previous live episode, which only had 6.48 million viewers . The chat show host – who announced he would be leaving the channel earlier this year – admitted there was a great deal of “pressure” on him while he was fronting ‘Friday Night With Jonathan Ross’. He explained: “There was a degree of pressure. And ever since my last contract was announced – and it was a huge contact – I felt like there was a lot of pressure on me, a lot of negativity about it, and I felt kind of like, well, maybe I shouldn’t be here? “I talked to them on a regular basis saying, ‘Do want me to go? Should we change this?’ And it was always the answer was no. But I felt under a lot pressure and a lot of stress to live up to that, to deal with that, and I didn’t enjoy it.
