Richard Hatch was sentenced to nine months in prison today, after being convicted of probation violation in January. The AP reports that the judge gave him “three months longer than the guidelines to deter him and others who would flout the terms of supervised release.” The Providence Journal reports that U.S. District Court Judge William Smith “ordered Hatch, of Newport, to surrender to the U.S. marshals to begin serving his sentence on Monday” and then “Hatch is ordered to serve 26 months of supervised release, requiring him to pay 25 percent of his gross income to the IRS.” While Hatch plans to appeal, this means he will miss The Celebrity Apprentice’s finale in May, and wouldn’t be able to return for Survivor this summer, if producers wanted to bring him back. (There were refuted rumors that producers wanted him to face off against Jonny Fairplay.) No comments Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan have confirmed that they have decided not to return to TV. The famous presenting duo last fronted an evening chat show on digital channel Watch, but the series was cancelled after one episode only pulled in 11,000 viewers. The husband and wife team had previously been seen as a golden couple and drew in massive viewing figures when they fronted ITV’s This Morning from 1988 until 2001. Speaking of their ill fated Watch series, Madeley said: “I’ve got more people following me on Twitter than watched us on Watch.” Finnigan added: “At the moment I wouldn’t remotely want to do television again. But if somebody suggested I work with somebody else, I’d say no, ­definitely not. Episode Two Preview » February 1, 2011 10:00:16 by Christine McDow Richard Hatch, the first and often undressed winner of Survivor and contestant on the upcoming Celebrity Apprentice , who spent three years in jail for tax evasion could be heading back to his home behind bars.  Federal prosecutors are recommending more jail time after finding that Richard Hatch violated his terms for release.  Will he really head back to the slammer and what did he do? According to reports, back in 2006 Richard Hatch was ordered to file amended tax returns for 2000 and 2001 when he was originally sentenced for not paying taxes on his $1,000,000 Survivor winnings and other income.  He currently owes $1.7 million in back taxes. He defeated Mike Isabella after each opened their own restaurant, and produced “the best food we’ve had in any finale,” as Tom Colicchio said. Gail Simmons echoed that: “They gave us two meals unlike any we have ever had before,” she said. The Providence Journal reports that the judge found Richard “guilty of violating the terms of his probation by not filing amended tax returns or making payments to the Internal Revenue Service. But he delayed sentencing the ‘Survivor’ reality TV star from Newport until after lawyers submit their recommendation to him.” On Facebook, Hatch continued his relentless defense by posting this comment : “The press has all been negative, but that doesn’t reflect what happened today. On its anniversary, I explained why it still matters , but didn’t focus on one thing that was especially important: character. And though everyone that first season was an amazing character, you can pretty much sum that up with Richard Hatch sitting in a tree. Greg wrote in (you can still contribute ), suggesting that day one be “Richard Hatch in a Bare Tree,” and that was too perfect. Watching Richard Hatch perched above his tribe as they argued about what to do first at camp was such an incredible moment, one that became more meaningful after he won, but is even more meaningful now. Remember Dr. Sean voting in season one by choosing people’s names alphabetically?
