No comments Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss have confirmed that a third series of hit drama Sherlock has been commission ed by BBC One. The co-creators of the show took to Twitter yesterday, not long after the finale of the current series aired, to promise fans that work on a third run will begin shortly. Moffat started the discussion, telling his followers: “#sherlock Yes of course there’s going to be a third series – it was commission ed at the same time as the second. Gotcha!” Gatiss later tweeted: “Gotcha! And of course there’ll be a third series! No comments Steven Moffat has heaped praise on the first two episodes of Doctor Who . The show runner is looking forward to the premiere of the sixth series of the hit BBC show next Saturday night and told Radio Times that the opening two parter titled ‘The Impossible Astronaut’ and ‘Day of the Moon’ feels just as exciting as a series finale. He told the publication: “I said to our genius director Toby Haynes, ‘Start like it’s the finale’, and my God, that’s just what he’s done. No comments Doctor Who boss Steven Moffat has warned fans that the start of the upcoming sixth series will be very ‘dark.’ The writer and producer told Digital Spy that the two opening episodes ‘The Impossible Astronaut’ and ‘Day of the Moon’ will both be “darker than any other opener of a season”. “We’ve been pretty dark before in Doctor Who,” he revealed, adding: “But we’re coming in [to a series] from the dark side just because we haven’t done it that way before.” However, don’t stop your kids tuning in. The writer of the BBC One sci-fi show explained while the series always includes outlandish storylines, he wanted to make ‘Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol’ even more bizarre, as he knew the Christmas Day (25.12.10) audience would be either on a sugar high or drunk. He said: “The baseline of ‘Doctor Who’ is a man who lives in a telephone box and wears a bow tie so we had to make it more bonkers than that. Most of the audience on Christmas Day will have had a selection box for breakfast or still be drunk, so a normal episode of ‘Doctor Who’ wouldn’t be enough.” Steven admitted while the one-off festive episode does feature plenty of eye-opening scenes, he also wanted it to have an “emotional” feel for his audience.
