Not only is this kind of hair usually coarse and wiry but it also one that looks the best when styled correctly. It helps to choose the appropriate black hair style from the many challenging options. Today, the trend being witnessed across the globe is that many people with non-black hair too are inclined to adopt the color and the shine of this type of hair. The endeavor is not unattainable and the right techniques are available and wisely and widely used today. When styling black hair it is important to remember the type of style chosen needs to take into consideration the way the hair grows and the volume of growth. These two factors vary and depend on several other factors and all need to be scrutinized when choosing to go with a black hairstyle. Genetics plays a big and primary role in determ...

X Factor ends with the result everyone predicted, making the last few months even more useless

X Factor »     by Andy Dehnart / December 23, 2011, 7:11 AM The X Factor ended last night, finally, with Melanie Amaro beating Josh Krajcik, and third-place Chris Rene to win the show’s unbelievable $5 million prize. Melanie was eliminated from mentor Simon Cowell’s group at the top 16 stage, but brought back in one of those totally inauthentic moments that helped make the series a monstrous disappointment . (Remember how much promise the series had back when Fox aired two truly outstanding promos ?) The most surprising part of the conclusion was that her victory was announced eight minutes before the end of the second hour, which like the first hour was full of filler and performances such as Justin Bieber performing with with Stevie Wonder. That gave Melanie a chance to say nothing of substance and for her to barely get through the same song she auditioned with while the show’s awesome stage did its best to give everyone seizures. There was real-life drama behind the scenes, as thr...

"America's Next Top Model: All-Stars" recap: "Making Dollars Out of Scents"

Well we made it everybody! We're finally in the home stretch of this cycle and it couldn't have come soon enough. As we start tonight's show  Lisa  is upset about Bre leaving but also adds that Bianca doesn't have a bodyguard anymore. Alexandria , looking the least fierce I've ever seen her, reminds us that the judges knocked her picture for looking like "a reality TV star" and I'm reminded what a joke that is considering the fact that they are on a reality TV show. They — Tyra included — need to get over themselves and probably shouldn't use that as a way to cut the contestants down, particularly considering who their guest judges have been so far. Shannon says she thinks the judges want more raunch from her. I think she just needs to stop being boring. Bianca is pissed that the house is full of cliques because now she doesn't have someone to back up all the whack crap that comes out of her mouth. Seriously, she seems to get into fights w...

Ken Burns needs to shut up about reality TV and start making it instead

Documentary filmmaker Ken Burns has slammed reality television, which is too bad since he understands its appeal and could use his considerable talent to make the genre better. Burns’ Prohibition documentary is currently airing on PBS, and in an interview with the Telegraph , he said, “Reality tv is like dog droppings in the street. You just try to avoid it and keep going with what you’re doing.” He’s said things like this before . Yes, some reality TV is dogshit. But you know what, Ken? Some reality TV is art. Here’s a radical idea: Maybe you should make some and try to improve the genre that is part of the nonfiction spectrum on which your work exists. Part of the problem here is that the people who make high-quality reality TV reject the label because they’ve accepted the media’s narrative that “reality TV” means “poorly made stupid shit for dumb fucks” instead of embracing the idea that a genre can have many levels of quality. Who knew? It’s not like there’s a range of quality or...

Making New Jewelry Out of Vintage Jewelry Components

With the economy still sluggish, and the emphasis on recycling and living green, a new style is emerging in the jewelry industry that is both extremely interesting, and eco-friendly. Jewelry that is made from authentic vintage components is becoming more and more popular. There are several advantages to buying jewelry made from vintage jewelry components. The most obvious advantage is the style. Vintage is funky and fun, made from materials and styles that are no longer available. Vintage is one of a kind; no one else will have the exact same jewelry you have, especially if you made it yourself. And vintage style is in right now, so you will be cool, artistic, and in style all at the same time. But besides the style advantage, vintage is eco-friendly. By using vintage materials to make your jewelry, you are recycling at its best. Reusing vintage parts, keeps the vintage jewelry out of the landfills, where it would sit for a very long time. So you can feel good about saving the earth b...

Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy's fall: not as dramatic as everyone's making it seem

I’ve stopped watching Dancing with the Stars because I have better ways to waste three hours a week, but last night’s episode featured one of the moments that inspire some people to keep watching: a mid-dance injury and fall. As Kirstie Alley with Maksim Chmerkovskiy started their dance, Maksim’s leg gave out and he went down, and since he was holding on to Kirstie, she fell down, too. They quickly got back up and finished the dance, although he was clearly in pain, wincing. Later, Brooke Burke handled this with her usual grace by showing a slow-motion video to him and babbling until Maksim finally just ran off-camera to get medical attention. By the media and Twitter coverage of this, you’d think it was insanely dramatic. TMZ screamed , “Maksim DROPS Kirstie Alley on ‘Dancing’.” The Huffington Post said “Kirstie Alley Falls,” which is not fully accurate. Entertainment Weekly suggested you “Watch! (Because you are a bad person).” I think you’re only a bad person if you make this int...

A father is always making his baby into a little woman. And when she is a woman he turns her back again. ~Enid Bagnold

the pimp chronicles Pub: VII 7/24/10 Have you ever taken the time to watch yourself on video? Sounds like a question most people would be able to say the answer “yes” to. One would think. Especially as most everybody has some version of a video camera in their phone, camera, computer, anywhere. My answer: no... (until recently.) So for whatever reason, I’ve been on this video kick lately. I have been hiding my old digitial camera with video recorder in a spot around the house. By doing so, I'm recording little segments of my life with Chloé. From putting her to bed, to reading her a nighttime book, or eating dinner with her. God I sound like a fucking creep. Hiding the stupid camera and recording the kid and I around the house? No really, it's both beneficial and a good keepsake. Let me tell you, it’s this “regular everyday shit” that after a few years time is by and far the most interesting to go back and look on. It's like my very own reality TV show! And I found it even...
