E! aired the premiere of Kourtney and Kim Take New York on Sunday evening, and viewers were treated to a look into the marriage of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries, but it seemed to focus more so on Kris Humphries’ bad habits. Rupert Boneham surprised to learn how much it costs to run for governor

Survivor star Rupert Boneham will announce on Saturday whether he’ll run for governor of Indiana as a libertarian, but he most likely will—even though he’s recently learned that it’s very expensive to run a campaign. He’s been considering a run since August, and said that feedback from potential voters has been positive. “That’s what’s empowering me to overlook that fact that I have to try and generate millions of dollars, and that’s just one hurdle, one little roadblock,” Rupert told the Franklin College Statehouse Bureau . “I have a lot of the ideas and a lot of the plans in my head for changing the way that we run our system, run our correctional facilities, treat our small businesses, treat our private sector people, treat all of that, but I did not know and understand the dollar sign of the campaign.” The libertarian party, Rupert said, “started showing me even yard signs for 92 counties. We’re talking about hundreds of thousands of yard signs at a buck and quarter apiece. We co...

American Idol's fake apology gets indignation from people still surprised at its insincerity

Last night, American Idol 10 opened its Austin audition episode with an on-screen apology . It said, “American Idol would like to apologize for last week’s outrageous behavior by Steven Tyler. Mr. Tyler has been warned and assures us it will never happen again.” Then the show began with an auditioner named Jake Muck, who Steven asked, “You know what ‘Muck’ rhymes with?” and then said, “read my lips.” Get it? His name rhymes with fuck! This juvenile, elementary school-style name-calling aside, I actually like Steven Tyler as a judge because he’s good television, even when he’s disturbing, such as when he makes lascivious comments to teenagers . And anyone who’s offended by the majority of what he’s said is apparently unaware what show they’re watching, because American Idol has always had a mean streak and dark humor underneath its veil of shiny happiness. That’s why it works on Fox—and works, period, and why attempts at similar shows have failed; the relentless positivity needs a coun...

Survivor: Nicaragua — Holly Surprised Herself Coming In 4th Place

« Dancing with the Stars: Brandy Norwood on Her Christmas Dilemma | Home December 24, 2010 04:00:25 by Ryan Haidet I have interviewed many Survivor contestants since season 13, but one thing I realized while standing on the red carpet after the finale for Survivor: Nicaragua last weekend — many members of the cast are extremely tall — especially fourth-place finisher Holly Hoffman.  This resulted in an interesting start to my interview with Holly who offered to take her shoes off to do the interview so the angle on camera would look a bit more level.  Once we got beyond that goofy moment (she kept her shoes on since the carpet was soggy from the constant rain), Holly discussed many portions of the game starting with her struggles early on when she wanted to quit the competition.  She also explained how champion NFL coach Jimmy Johnson helped keep her motivated before detailing why she stole Dan’s shoes and set them adrift in the ocean. Read on to watch video of the interview on the re...

Bristol Palin makes Dancing with the Stars finale. Stop acting surprised.

Ever since she was introduced as a “teen activist” on the premiere of Dancing with the Stars 11, Bristol Palin has been a joke of a contestant. But that she survived to next week’s finale is no surprise at all. Brandy Norwood went home instead, leaving Jennifer Grey and Kyle Massey with her in the finals. There’s a lot of interesting discussion that we can have about Bristol’s success, but as a tangent, there is nothing I loathe more than people whining and complaining about a competition reality show’s results by making moronic arguments and drawing simplistic conclusions: It was fixed! Sarah Palin rigged it! It was scripted! I’m never watching again except next week to see what I can be even more outraged about to give my life a little bit of meaning! I don’t think there’s any single reason why she made it, but rather, there are several reasons, and drawing a chunk of voters for each reason has obviously been enough to overcome her usually anemic judges’ scores. Here are those reaso...
