The former Stars In Their Eyes presenter has already filmed his first scenes for the BBC medical drama and will hit our screens at the end of this month. Bosses had originally planned for him appear for one episode only, however he impressed them so much with his portrayal as an eccentric psychiatrist they asked him return for more episodes. Producer Oliver Kent told The Mirror: “Matthew has already made a big impression.” Although best known as a TV star, Matthew is an accomplished and award winning actor. He won an Olivier Award in 2003 for his portrayal of Lenny in John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men at the Savoy Theatre. More recently, in January 2010 he replaced Simon Callow as Pozzo in the revival of Waiting for Godot at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, alongside Lord Of The Rings star Ian McKellen. Show star Matthew Morrison has revealed that the actress and singer – who will hit TV screens this month as a judge on the tenth season of American Idol – has begun harrassing him at celebrity parties, begging him to speak to creator Ryan Murphy about offering her a part. Morrison (who plays Will Schuester, a teacher and Glee club leader at McKinley High) tells Britain’s Glamour magazine: “J. Lo definitely wants to (appear on the show). She runs over to me at parties asking whether I’ve ‘spoken to Ryan yet’ because she’ll ‘do anything’ to be on the show. The ‘ Glee ’ star will not be joining his co-stars for a series of European concert dates next year and is hoping to play shows across the globe in support of his debut solo album. He told TV show ‘Extra’: “I go right into rehearsals after Christmas. “This is the only time I have off, really, so that’s why we’re kinda getting it in now. When ‘Glee’ goes on hiatus in April, I’m gonna start doing a big tour.” Earlier this year, Matthew’s ‘Glee’ character, teacher Will Schuester, performed three songs with actress Gwyneth Paltrow, who was making a guest appearance. The blonde star recently revealed she is to reprise her role as substitute teacher Holly Holiday next year and Jane Lynch – who portrays cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester – can’t wait for her to return.
