Idol finalists will make more than $47,000 each for the summer tour

American Idol 10’s top 11 finalists will each receive $1,000 per stop on their 47-city tour , so they’ll make $47,000 plus receive a $50 per diem and a share of the merchandise sold. That’s part of the reason why finalists want to make it to the top 10 (or 11 this season), and what Karen Rodriguez and Ashthon Jones are missing out on—besides the name recognition and exposure that comes from not being forgotten. Don’t forget that finalists get paid for their performances all season and earn money for each recording sold on iTunes , $1,000 plus a $1,000 advance against royalties, so they’re making decent money for their work. The tour salary details come from a a TMZ report that says it has the contestants’ contract but doesn’t actually reproduce or even quote from the contract. Animal Planet Orders Two Summer <b>Reality TV</b> Series - Live Feed

NEW YORK -- Discovery Communications' Animal Planet has picked two new reality series for this summer. Tanked , which debuts in July, follows the antics of two brothers-in-law who run the largest aquarium manufacturing company in the nation, while Hillbilly Handfishin' launches in August and focuses on the sport of noodling, for which "city slickers head to Oklahoma to submerge themselves in murky waters to catch catfish with their bare hands and feet with comedic and dramatic results," the network said. Marjorie Kaplan , president of Animal Planet and Science Channel, announced the two programming additions. Tanked , which is planned as a six-episode series, revolves around brothers-in-law, business partners, best friends and rivals Brett Raymer and Wayde King who work with opinionated family and staff. Brad Womack's dad "shocked" by comments; Brad's ex says he proposed last summer

The Bachelor star Brad Womack’s ex-girlfriend is getting herself some attention by telling a tabloid that Brad proposed to her before filming his second season of the show, and stayed in contact with her during it. Laurel Kagay told Us Weekly , “I’m sure the girl he picked would want to know that he was proposing to another woman right before he started taping the show. I would want to know.” The magazine says he sent her e.mail messages during the show, and she said, “Even when we weren’t together, he would say how much he loved me and was going to marry me.” Meanwhile, Brad’s dad Steve Womack, who has been blamed by Brad for his commitment issues, told Star “I was shocked when I saw how Brad talks about our relationship. The Tahoe Heritage Foundation’s annual Great Gatsby Festival is a very fun event for anyone who loves history. It is especially fun if you can dress like a fashionable 1920s lady and stroll through the beautiful grounds of Valhalla in style. To get started you will need a dress. The 1920s were know for their straight cut long dresses (hem below the knee) that made women appear “boyishly” flat chested and without hips. Summer day dresses were made of lightweight, chiffon, georgette or silk materials. Solid colors as well as geometrical, Egyptian and Asian patterns were all the rage. Many modern long summer dresses can be easily adapted to look “’20s.” One quick way to make a simple straight line dress look art deco is to tie a thin fabric belt or loose sash a few inches below your hip bone. This creates the unnaturally low waist line that is very characteristic of the early to mid ’20s. Another option is to wear a long skirt and white blouse.
