Former season 10 American Idol hopeful Pia Toscano is basking in the glow of signing a new record deal with Interscope Records. So much so, she’s treating fans at the American Idol summer tour to the debut of her new single This Time.

The American Idol summer tour kicked off live on July 6th in Salt Lake City, Utah and Pia Toscano was front and center with the debut of her new single This Time.

Since hearing the once front-runner of Fox’s American Idol had signed with Interscope Records, everyone’s been buzzing over Pia Toscano’s debut album, which isn’t slated to hit the scene until later this year. It was even more intriguing when we found out famed songwriter Ester Dean, who has cranked out hits for Rihanna and Nicki Minaj, was behind her new single This Time.

Fans at the July 6 kick off of the American Idol summer tour got to sample Toscano’s new work during a solo set that included the premiere of This Time. The song won’t be officially released until July 12, but here’s what we can tell you based on the reports from the concert. It hits you with an acoustic guitar straight out of the gate, delivers a sick-beat and then “builds” to that big Pia Toscano delivery we know and love. The main hook to This Time is said to be the lyrics “this time, I’m gonna do it my way.”

Well, the tour certainly isn’t all about Pia Toscano, as the rest of the top 11 (thanks to a judges’ save) were there. Toscano covered other songs and performed in group numbers, but the biggest news is fans got a taste of her new single. She’s also expected to perform the song on all the stops on the tour.

Can you get behind a Pia Toscano album? Will you be buying her debut single This Time when it drops on July 12. Drop us a line in the comments section and give us your thoughts.

How to make: A fashionable cake

The Stella McCartney ‘fruit print’ has become one of the most iconic patterns for the season, with high street brands such as Zara following suit. However, the look can be fairly difficult to pull off unless you’re a stick thin model, so we’ve found a way to get your fashion fix and your hunger fix for a fraction of the cost of a real Stella.
