X Factor »     by Andy Dehnart / January 30, 2012, 7:40 PM In an unsurprising move, Steve Jones has been fired as host of Fox’s The X Factor , and thus won’t be back to host the second season. “I wont be hosting next seasons XFactor which is a shame but I cant complain as I’ve had a great time. Good luck to everyone on the show,” he wrote on Twitter a few minutes ago. Although he is affable and charming in real life , he wasn’t the best host, though he is far from the worst part of that disaster of a series. This isn’t a surprise, considering everyone knew she was a terrible judge long before the show even started—except Fox and Simon Cowell, apparently. She was erratic and weird , and even refused to judge . In an attempt to spin this like she hasn’t been fired, Nicole’s people told E! Online that Nicole “wants to focus on her music career” because “X Factor took a lot more of her time than she ever expected. She didn’t have any time really to work on her music. She was doing X Factor six days a week.” That’s a bunch of bullshit. And although they aren’t the same show, Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, and Blake Shelton seem to be doing just fine managing The Voice and their careers. That leaves just Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid to have fake fights with each other. Deadline reported Paula’s exit, saying “none of the three left on their own accord and that it was cleaning house day at the so-so rated reality series.” While trade publications have been able to confirm with Fox that Jones and Scherzinger are out, there’s no official word yet that Paula is out. Police are investigating after a contestant on Brazil’s version of Big Brother was expelled from the house for possibly sexually assaulting a houseguest while she was unconscious, although he has called it “a huge misunderstanding.” Footage of the incident that’s on YouTube and was broadcast on live, pay-per-view TV, shows houseguest Monique Amin unconscious in bed. Under a blanket, fellow houseguest Daniel Echaniz touches and moves against her. The show’s host told viewers only that Daniel “is suspected of having infringed the rules of the programme.” He said that producers “examined his behaviour without jumping to conclusions and with the utmost care. The images showed a breach of the rules of the programme. Canada is getting its own version of The Bachelor, which has started casting and will air on Citytv. Our long-suffering neighbors to the north, who frequently have to watch our reality TV shows but cannot apply to them, have actually sent us a number of cast members for The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, including Jillian Harris. But now they get their own version, so more Canadians will know what it’s like to date on television and break up after they’ve bled it for all the publicity they can. The soundtrack is on iTunes and includes 12 songs, not tracks of crying babies or fights between teen parents unprepared for the consequences of producing a human life that requires constant care and attention for years and years and years. The proceeds benefit the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy , so hopefully it is not a collection of songs that will inspire people to have unprotected sex and produce more babies they can parade in front of MTV’s cameras. Oxygen has officially and unspurprisingly renewed The Glee Project for a second season, which will have two additional contestants. Robert Ulrich, Zach Woodlee, Nikki Anders, and (the ever-insufferable but surprisingly tolerable here) Ryan Murphy will all return. The cast of Survivor One World was announced by CBS yesterday, and includes the first little person to ever play the game. Based on the video preview below, it also includes a lot of over-the-top, borderline crazy personalities, like people who insist upon being called “Troyzan” and “Tarzan” (and those are two different men). Thankfully, as the video introduction moves on, more normal cast members are introduced; in it, host Jeff Probst tells us that season 24’s cast are “all very attractive” and “aren’t afraid to make big moves.” Season 24 won’t include Redemption Island, although Probst threatens to have it return in the future in an interview with EW, in which he also says we can expect more “Do It Yourself challenges” this season for which Probst doesn’t show up, including ones that happen on the tribe’s beach. On its web site, Sea Shepherd reports that “American crewmember Brian Race, (25) from New York, was jabbed twice in the face with a bamboo pole receiving lacerations above his right eye and on his nose. Russell Bergh of South Africa, (35) a cameraman for Animal Planet, was struck in the right arm and shoulder with an iron grappling hook thrown from the harpoon vessel resulting in deep bruising.
