Channel 4 execs have today announced that as of this month, More4 is evolving into a whole package of “life enhancing content” including a new service entitled ‘Digital Scrapbook’.
With less reliance on documentaries, current affairs and arts programmes, the new look channel will offer show that focus on the everyday lives of viewers, such as shows featuring homes, property, food, health and fashion.
Of the newly reformatted channel, Channel 4's Chief Creative Officer Jay Hunt, said, “More4 is already an incredibly successful channel. It has increased its share every year since launch, with this year being its most successful ever.
“But in an increasingly competitive and changing world we are always looking for ways of improving and developing our services, maximising revenues and more effectively serving our audience”.
And part of that pledge includes the aforementioned ‘Digital Scrapbook’ which will encourage users to “collect, organise, share, discover and form deeper relationships with Channel 4's popular factual content and its talent…”
The Scrapbook will give users access to ‘how to’ guides, advice of varying sorts and will complement the TV content of the channel.
The press release about Digital Scrapbook adds…
Take for example a viewer watching a cookery programme on More4. They will be able to visit the Channel 4 website to get more expert details and tips relating to that particular episode and also be able to file specific recipes and information in their personalised scrapbook so they can refer back to their favourite content at a future date or share with friends. The service will turn viewing into doing; creating experts in their individual fields of interest.
The ‘Digital Scrapbook’ service, which is expected to launch in April, will be accessible directly from a show’s Channel 4 micro-site as well as other platforms such as 4oD.
