No comments Karl Newton has been drafted in to replace outgoing Daybreak boss Ian Rumsey. The This Morning executive producer will oversee a number of format and structural changes on the ITV breakfast show, including the merging of staff on the main show and follow up slot ‘Lorraine.’ Rumsey announced his decision to leave the ailing show earlier this summer though some staff are said to be convinced that he is being made a scapegoat by ITV, because they cannot afford to get rid of the real problems…..Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley. Karl previously worked on ITV’s Loose Women, Trisha and Des & Mel. It is hoped that he can turn Daybreak around and claw back some of the viewers that ITV has lost to BBC Breakfast over the past year.
