Man arrested for killing American Idol auditioner pleads out, won't be charged with her death

American Idol 7 auditioner Alexis Cohen was killed when a man fleeing police hit her , and now that man has agreed to a plea bargain that means he won’t be charged with her death in any way. The Asbury Park Press reports that Daniel Bark, 25, “pleaded guilty Monday to eluding police and drunken driving in a plea bargain in which additional charges related to the hit-and-run death of an American Idol hopeful will be dismissed.” Specifically, prosecutors will drop charges of “aggravated manslaughter, death by auto and knowingly leaving the scene of a fatal accident.” While he confessed to police, his lawyer says there’s no evidence he killed her, and the confession was thrown out because, the paper reports, police “did not advise Bark of his rights to remain silent and have an attorney present during questioning before they began interrogating him about Cohen’s death.” A different attorney who represented him when he was arrested told a newspaper in 2009 that Bark was on suicide watch...

Sick Big Brother fans threaten Shelly and her family with death, rape; express their hatred

Some extraordinarily stupid and horrible people are threatening Big Brother 13 houseguest Shelly Moore and her family, at least in part because Shelly’s vote sent beloved Jeff Schroeder out of the game on Thursday. Saturday, executive producer Allison Grodner pleaded on Twitter , “No matter how much you dislike an HG, this is wrong! True BB fans do not try to ruin lives. Please stop!” That’s a reference to some horrific behavior from a significant number of people who are severely overreacting by hating a person because of their actions on a reality TV show, which they think justifies their threats, libel, or other awfulness. As Yakkity Yaks first noted , fans’ “hate speech has gone to a whole new level. People are posting phone numbers and e-mails to Shelly’s work, urging others to call to get her fired from her job. They are urging people to help get Josie, Shelly’s young daughter, kicked out from her school. They are posting Child Social Service numbers, and asking that everyone ca...

Amy Winehouse cause of death not yet known – autopsy result ‘inconclusive’

Home > News > Amy Winehouse cause of death not yet known – autopsy result ‘inconclusive’ July 25th, 2011 by Lisa McGarry. No comments It seems that the friends and family of Amy Winehouse may have to wait another month or so to find out how the star died. The ‘Rehab’ hitmaker was found dead in her North London home on Saturday afternoon and because of the ‘unexplained’ nature of her passing, a post mortem was ordered. Associated Press have tonight reported that the results of the initial autposy is in and the results were inconclusive. They added that additional toxicology tests will be needed and these may take two to four weeks to complete. It was also announced this evening that Amy will be buried tomorrow, though the spokesperson for her family would not give details of the time or date. The burial was made possible by a coroner yesterday, who adjourned the inquest into Amy’s death until October, because there was nothing to make police suspect suspicious circumstances or...

Ryan Dunn had 11 drinks in four hours; castmates reflect on his life and death

MTV »     by Andy Dehnart / June 26, 2011, 8:24 PM Jackass star Ryan Dunn died in a car crash after consuming 11 drinks in four hours, according to one report, although a friend drinking with him said that their drinking wasn’t “abnormal.” Philadelphia’s Fox 29 created a timeline of his time at a bar, where the station says “Dunn had a total of 11 drinks over a four-hour period, and not eight, the number that has been widely reported.” His blood alcohol level was .196, well over the .08 legal limit; he and his passenger, Zachary Hartwell, died after “his Porsche [accelerated] to 140 mph and crashed through a guardrail, skidding down an embankment and into a tree, bursting into flames,” Fox 29 reports. However, a friend who was at the bar with Dunn told E! News , “I didn’t see anything abnormal. … Reports were saying five hours which is ludicrous. It was maybe two hours. He was the same person as he came in and as he left he was in good spirits, just really happy to be there with hi...

Reality TV interrupted by Osama bin Laden death news; reality stars comment as one denies news

Reality interrupted reality TV last night as news of the death of Osama bin Laden interrupted the broadcast of The Celebrity Apprentice on the east coast and The Amazing Race on the west coast. This was actual breaking news, unlike the typical pretend breaking news that cable news networks advertise constantly, but for those on the west coast, the coverage of the aftermath—including incredible spontaneously gathering crowds at The White House, ground zero, and Times Square—did not interrupt their television after President Barack Obama confirmed and elaborated on the news that leaked to the media shortly before his statement. That’s because NBC and CBS cut away from news coverage to air The Apprentice on time and The Amazing Race an hour late, respectively. On the east coast, NBC stayed with Donald Trump until about 15 minutes of the show remained, and did not mention what would happen to the conclusion. However, the full episode will be online soon and also will be rebroadcast on CN...

On the anniversary of Phil Harris death, Jake, Josh Harris on board the Cornelia Marie

One year ago late last night, Discovery Channel released a statement announcing that Deadliest Catch captain Phil Harris had died . Now, the show’s remaining captains—who are back after several of them quit over pay last summer—say that their time on the Bering Sea is quieter, although Phil’s sons Jake and Josh Harris are on board the Cornelia Marie. For the anniversary of Phil’s death, Discovery is encouraging people to change their Facebook pictures, and has provided several images to use. Northwestern captain Sig Hansen told People , “Something is definitely missing. You can feel it everyday out here. There’s no more fun radio chatter among the boats. Phil was known for his colorful commentary about storms, crew life — whatever was on his mind. Our boat-to-boat radio was like The Phil Show. He always kept us entertained and now that is all silent.” Time Bandit captain Andy Hillstrand said, “We try to make up for his loss by getting on the radio and giving each other shit, since ...

Apprentice teams raise record $1.6 million after Gary Busey, Meat Loaf's "confrontation of death"

Another week, another ridiculously freakin’ awesome episode of Celebrity Apprentice, from Richard Hatch floating the possibility that Jose Canseco pretended his father was dying of cancer (in order to get out of a fundraising task) to NeNe Leakes telling Star Jones how to get paint off her hands (using water in the sink). And that was before the batshit crazy boardroom, when Donald Trump threw out all the rules after revealing that “we’ve never raised this much money in a whole season.” In an art auction challenge, the men raised $626,908 from the art they created, but the women raised $986,000 “for an all-time Apprentice record.” Trump gave $14,000 to bring that to an even $1 million, making the total more than $1.6 million. Trump called it a “very sad situation” because one team had to lose, so the project managers, John Rich and Marlee Matlin, agreed that each team could keep their earnings for their charity. Later, he gave Marlee the option of firing no one on the men’s team becau...

Emmerdale: Deena Payne didn’t think Viv Hope’s death was dramtic enough

Home > Emmerdale > Emmerdale: Deena Payne didn’t think Viv Hope’s death was dramtic enough January 14th, 2011 by Lisa McGarry. No comments Deena Payne has admitted that she feels “let down” with the way her character was written out of ‘Emmerdale’. The actress had played Viv Hope in the ITV1 soap for 18 years and was hoping she would be awarded a huge dramatic exit. However she ended up being “disappointed” with her final scenes, which saw her alter-ego falling asleep on the sofa and dying in a fire. She said: “I was very disappointed with my departure. And I think the viewers will be, too. Having followed Viv for so long and travelled with her on her ups and downs, I think they’d want a better build-up so they could really get into it and give her a good send-off. “It’s a bit of an anti-climax after being told that you’re going to have one of the biggest storylines that soap has ever seen, but for my character it wasn’t at all. The big storyline is the fire and how people get...

Eastenders toned down Ronnie Branning cot death scenes!

December 24th, 2010 by Lisa McGarry. No comments ‘EastEnders’ bosses have toned down the soap’s harrowing cot death scenes. In the episodes of the BBC One show – set to be aired on New Year’s Eve (31.12.10) and New Year’s Day (01.01.11) – Ronnie Branning will discover her newborn baby dead before swapping it with Kat Moon’s child but producers have made small edits to the programme after preview audiences found it too distressing. Scenes where Ronnie (Samantha Womack) is seen holding the hand of her dead son and Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) finds Kat (Jessie Wallace) in blood-soaked pyjamas due to haemorrhaging in bed after giving birth have been removed from the episode planned for broadcast. The sound of Kat’s baby crying while Ronne walks across the square after discovering her baby has died has also been edited out. Executive producer Bryan Kirkwood, explained their decision to alter the episode after a preview screening, saying: “We’re very aware of the need to deal with such an emo...

Eastenders: Cast cry during filming of Ronnie’s baby’s cot death

November 20th, 2010 by Lisa McGarry. 1 Comment The cast of Eastenders were reportedly moved to tears this week, when they filmed scenes in which Ronnie Mitchell discovers the body of her baby in a cot. As part of the storyline, viewers will see newly married Ronnie fleeing to the Queen Vic with her dead baby, when she hears Kat Moon’s baby crying and swaps hers for the living child. Ronnie has previously lost her daughter Danielle, who died in her arms after being knocked down by Janine. A source told The Sun: “Most of the crew have never shot anything quite so sensitive. “Filming stopped for over an hour as people found it hard to continue without breaking down. It will certainly be very strong viewing.” Follow us on Twitter ! Get the latest news and chat with @ unrealitytv Categories: Soaps Tags: BBC , Eastenders View the original article here

Skating with the Stars trips, slices itself open with its skate, and bleeds to death

ABC’s attempt to turn the popularity of Dancing with the Stars into a spin-off series has failed: Skating with the Stars lost a huge number of its sibling show’s viewers, and kept losing about half its viewers throughout its premiere. The two-hour premiere was watched by 11.1 million people, although as The Hollywood Reporter says , “it actually didn’t. Because the time period contained roughly 13 minutes of overrun from the surging Dancing finale (23.3 million, 4.7), which was up at least 18% from last week and surely more once the overrun is added in,” that means the skating series actually had far fewer than 11.1 million viewers. Most damningly is that gap from its lead in: more than 12 million people fled when it came on, and TV By the Numbers notes that “it declined in each half hour.” In its last hour, just 6.91 million were watching, and that’s the average, so it was probably even less by the end. As NPR’s Linda Holmes observed , “Gee, Skating With The Stars flopped? How could...
