When the Fox competition started, I really liked him as a host, primarily because he was the anti-Ryan Seacrest, never making it about himself. I also appreciated how he policed the judging panel, and wouldn’t just let, say, Paula Abdul blabber on forever. But as the season unfolded, that turned into an oddly robotic, dictatorial host who just barks orders and seems unaware that he’s often disrupting reality as it unfolds. Also, he’s not good at asking the contestants questions, usually because he acts like interviews are something to check off once a contestant says a few words. « Nancy Grace Reveals Her Dancing With The Stars Weight Loss | Home November 10, 2011 05:36 PM by Ryan Haidet As you’ve probably heard by now, Survivor host Jeff Probst is not replacing Regis Philbin like many had been speculating.  Instead, Probst has been given his own daytime talk show , which has been titled “Jeff Probst.”  Creative, I know.  But will this new daily television dedication kill his opportunity to keep hosting Survivor ?  The good news is that Probst says he will be able to work on both shows!  Read on for more! That’s right!  Probst’s upcoming 2012 syndicated talk show won’t stop him from returning to Survivor.  “I’m fascinated with people,” Probst said in a press release from CBS Television Distribution.  “And I love adventure.  I can’t wait to bring these two worlds together in daytime, and the added bonus is I get to continue with Survivor in prime-time.” Awesome news!  Glad you can stick around, Jeff.  Tribal Council just wouldn’t be the same without you.  P...

Amazing Race and Survivor new seasons just started back, so it got us wondering about real people and reality television.  Would you be on a reality TV show and if yes, which one? Jonathon – Definitely! Something like Survivor. I’ve always loved that show and can see myself in the endgame of that reality show (assuming my leadership driven personality doesn’t get me voted off early). Orlando – I would go on a show with local fútbol players playing pro. Jay – That  would have to be Amazing Race couldn’t do that with Amy though she cant read maps, take direction and I would have to carry her pack everywhere.  I would do Survivor that would be fun and drop a few kilos as well, or show my style on So You Think You Can Dance. Also a toss up between Jersey Shore and the Kardashians purely to slap them about, seriously what a bunch of Oxygen Thieves. Tough Enough returned to TV last week on USA, and among its changes for its fifth season is the addition of a host: WWE’s Stone Cold Steve Austin. You might want to watch tonight at 8 p.m. ET for the challenge that involves sending angry dogs after the contestants, but it’s worth checking out just to see his surprisingly phenomenal, hilarious hosting. This is Stone Cold Steve Austin’s show, period. Yet it is also not about him like the way Donald Trump sometimes makes the show about himself. I actually cannot think of another reality series where the host is so prominent yet also keeps the focus so strongly on the contestants. Steve Austin is walking a line here that even the best in the business, Jeff Probst and Ryan Seacrest, tend to miss sometimes, swinging too far over to one side (being critics and viewer stand-ins) or the other (thinking of themselves as stars who deserve more attention than the contestants).
