The 28-year-old actor took over the role from David Tennant in 2010 and Nicholas – who voices the Daleks, Cybermen and Judoon monsters in the BBC sci-fi series – insists his portrayal is one of his favourites and reminds him of the late Patrick Troughton’s imagining of the character in the 60s. He said: “I love what Matt does. My favourite Doctor is Patrick Troughton and Matt has drawn from Patrick quite a lot, because he’s watched DVDs of his. The ‘ Glee ’ actress tied the knot with long-term girlfriend Lara Embry last summer and is delighted to be able to spend all her time with her partner and even enjoys watching ‘Glee’ with stepdaughter Hayden, eight. She said: “I love it! I always wanted to have a partner. I always wanted to have someone to walk through life with, and I really have not had that before. We spend all day together and we make home together very well. We all watch the show. The 55-year-old chat show host explained the veteran actress “can’t put a foot wrong” in his eyes, as she has played such a wide variety of different characters. He said: “Julie Walters is my comedy heroine. I love everything she’s ever done. She was brilliant as Rosie in ‘Mamma Mia!’ and hilarious as Mrs. Overall, the tea lady, in ‘Acorn Antiques’. “She’s terrific in ‘Harry Potter’ and full of energy and empathy in ‘Billy Elliot’.
