Today in The Daily Beast, I report on a lawsuit quietly filed last August by DJB, Inc., a company run by executive producer Mark Burnett, against a John Doe who turned out to be Jim Early, the man who posted accurate Survivor spoilers on Survivor Sucks as “missyae.” The lawsuit was dismissed after Early gave lawyers information about his source(s), and he told me that he identified Russell Hantz as the person who gave him information about seasons 19 and 20. Perceived front-runner Pia Toscano was voted off American Idol 10 last night instead of Stefano Langone, shocking the studio audience, viewers at home, and the judges. It was so surprising that Ryan Seacrest begged viewers to not bail on the entire season. Top Chef All-Stars’ judges are defending their decision to send Casey Thompson home instead of Jamie Lauren, and they say it was simply because Casey’s food was inedible—perhaps because she volunteered to work in the dining room during the dim sum challenge, an example of a chef once again being eliminated for doing too much instead of taking the easy way out. (And it’s another somewhat controversial elimination for this season, which is perhaps inevitable considering the amount of talent.)
