Steve Jones fired as host of X Factor

X Factor » by Andy Dehnart / January 30, 2012, 7:40 PM In an unsurprising move, Steve Jones has been fired as host of Fox’s The X Factor , and thus won’t be back to host the second season. “I wont be hosting next seasons XFactor which is a shame but I cant complain as I’ve had a great time. Good luck to everyone on the show,” he wrote on Twitter a few minutes ago. Although he is affable and charming in real life , he wasn’t the best host, though he is far from the worst part of that disaster of a series. But as one of its primary faces, his fall was inevitable. View the original article here

X Factor mercifully ends as Steve Jones candidly discusses whether he'll have a job next season

X Factor » by Andy Dehnart / December 22, 2011, 5:37 PM The X Factor , a show that’s been hyped for years, ends its first season tonight. Compared to Fox’s typical fall programing, the show has succeeded by bringing in higher ratings. Compared to even diminished expectations , X Factor appears to be a very shiny version of American Idol’s diaper contents. The Washington Post’s Lisa de Moraes runs down five things that are wrong with the show , and in Vulture, Dave Holmes identifies “10 things that still make no sense about The X Factor” . They pretty much cover everything, from the fakeness to Nicole Scherzinger to the awfulness of including children to the over-production. Both lists include host Steve Jones, who’s the anti-Ryan Seacrest in the best and worst ways. This week, he’s been the subject of UK tabloid rumors that he’s already been fired. I interviewed Steve for Vulture , and in the a condensed version of our conversation, he talks candidly about whether he’ll be ba...

Monkee's Davy Jones rejected Dancing with the Stars' offer

Dancing with the Stars’ effort to recruit more high-profile celebrities for its 13th season this fall hit a roadblock, when high-profile, A-lister and The Monkees star Davy Jones rejected the show’s offer to appear. During a press conference yesterday for his upcoming December PBS special called “60s Pop Rock: My Music,” Davy Jones said, as part of one of his long, rambling answers, “If I want to go out there and compete … maybe there was a phone call a couple days ago to go on Dancing with the Stars. If they would have called me three years ago, I would have said yes. What am I dancing against, a boxer and a baseball player? Do you know what I mean? I’m a song and dance man, you know.” I don’t know what that means, really, but I do know that he’s a hilarious character (“I’ve got two hands. I’m a laborer. I fix my own roof.”), prompting me to suggest he should get his own show, and a friend to start soliciting Davy Jones reality show names like this . View the original article here

Alex Jones to be sacked from The One Show?

Home > Entertainment > Alex Jones to be sacked from The One Show? August 3rd, 2011 by Lisa McGarry. No comments Alex Jones is reportedly set to be axed from ‘The One Show’. The Welsh presenter has starred as main female host on the BBC One show since Christine Bleakley left in August last year, but sources say bosses are already holding secret auditions with a view to replacing her. TV chiefs are said to be unconvinced by the chemistry between Alex and current co-host Matt Baker, and ratings are also down on the same period in 2010. An insider told the Daily Star newspaper: “The bosses are planning a major shake-up soon. Alex joined the show last year and was paired with Jason Manford but then he got involved in a Twitter sex text scandal and had to leave. “Then she had to co-host with a string of stand-ins before the producers opted for Matt Baker. This latest pairing doesn’t appear to be working out as well people hoped.” Show chiefs are considering replacing Alex with for...

Ashthon Jones: I'd sensed I would be ousted from 'American Idol ...

By Elizabeth Kwiatkowski, 03/11/2011 Ashthon Jones said she just had "one of those feelings" and suspected she would be the first finalist eliminated from American Idol's tenth season during Thursday night's live results show. "It wasn't a surprise. I had a feeling. It was one of those feelings where there are so many talented people on the show and regardless of whether I had the less votes or the less fans, I was still a part of those people. I was still there and the judges saw something in me that I didn't know I had. So, it didn't crush me at all," Jones told Reality TV World during a media conference call on Friday. "It doesn't mean that I didn't have fans and I don't have fans, it just means that I had the least votes, and I'm just honored to have been on the show with superstars. I look at them as stars and they said the same thing to me last night -- that they feel I am too -- and it touched my heart. So, all of...

NeNe quits! Trump makes Meat Loaf cry! Star Jones fired! Trump isn't gay! Apprentice!

NBC scheduled a three-hour Celebrity Apprentice episode last night, and while it was actually just two episodes put together, it was full of the kind of crazy entertainment we’ve come to expect from this season. Here are the highlights, such as they are: NeNe Leakes quits. NeNe has provided some of the best TV this season, both because she’s been surprisingly smart and mature, and because she’s brought her Real Housewives self and thrown down with Star Jones. However, some off-camera wrangling resulted in Donald Trump letting Star Jones switch teams to be away from NeNe Leakes after their epic showdown last week. That led NeNe to quit via a phone call—which seemed faked, because there was no camera on NeNe in the cab, and Trump was incredibly stilted/scripted—and leave us stranded. Later, Trump said, “because everyone calls them a loser and quitter” “So to you, NeNe, I say, you’re fired, and you’re a quitter, and Star Jones kicked your ass whether you like it or not.” Trump makes M...

Celebrity Apprentice’s Star Jones Calls NeNe Leakes An Animal!

« America’s Next Top Model Preview: The Final Four | Home | Tori & Dean: sTORIbook Weddings – Tori Spelling On the Arabian Nights Wedding » May 3, 2011 03:00:50 by Shayla Perry Can’t we all just get along?! When Bravo ‘s Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes last appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show , she called her Celebrity Apprentice co-star, Star Jones “a disaster.” But during her own interview with the talk show host, which aired today (May 3), Jones had some pretty harsh things to say about Leakes as well…. After Sunday night’s episode of NBC ‘s Celebrity Apprentice , where fans were finally able to see the vicious confrontation between Real Housewives of Atlanta ‘s NeNe Leakes and Star Jones, the former View co-host made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and dished about the seemingly one-sided spat. “What were you thinking when NeNe [Leakes] was going off like that?” Ellen asked. “I was thinking my grandmother is going to watch this,” said Star. “I wa...

NeNe Leakes vs. Star Jones previewed after a discussion of Star's ass

The Celebrity Apprentice was a bit slower than usual last night, perhaps because of the lack of Gary Busey, and perhaps because of an uninspired challenge that involved Donald Trump’s own brand that didn’t give the teams much to do. But it paid off in the boardroom, when NeNe Leakes turned on La Toya Jackson despite having befriended her earlier, and also turned on Star Jones. That sets up next week’s fight between the two women, which looked amazing even in the preview. It was inevitable that they’d clash because they’re such strong personalities; directing a photo shoot, NeNe told her teammates, “This is my scene, so everybody shut the fuck up,” while Star scripted a presentation that involved her team echoing key words behind her, which La Toya Jackson hilariously mocked. Trump fired La Toya after first pointing out that executives have repeatedly said La Toya was one of the strongest team members, then saying that he makes decisions only on task performance. But then he fired her ...

Celebrity Apprentice’s Star Jones SLAMS NeNe Leakes in Interview

« The Biggest Loser: Cast Heads To New Zealand This Week! | Home April 12, 2011 12:00:30 by Shayla Perry Star Jones may have a lot to say in the boardroom, but when it comes to talking about her feud with The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s NeNe Leakes , the former View co-host has stayed relatively quiet…until now. In a new interview, the “Satan’s Sisters” author slams her Celebrity Apprentice co-star and even brings up NeNe’s stripper past! Oh snap! “You never get involved in a pig fight,” Star Jones tells Popeater.com’s Rob Shuter of her feud with Real Housewives of Atlanta star, NeNe Leakes. “If you do, three things happen: you get dirty, you get tired, and only the pig has fun. It diminishes me to talk about her. I have so many other things going on in my life.” One of those things would be the release of her new book, “Satan’s Sisters,” which Jones has been promoting on a variety of shows; each time, doing her best to avoid trashing her Celebrity Apprentice co-star, NeNe Leake...

Celebrity Apprentice: Lisa Rinna Reveals Star Jones’ Plot

« Secret Millionaire: Want To Become A Secret Millionaire? | Home | Reality TV Magazine Contest! » April 1, 2011 02:00:53 by Shayla Perry When soap star Lisa Rinna was fired from Celebrity Apprentice , she suspected that some of the women on her team – namely Star Jones and Dionne Warwick – had planned to have her fired from the start. But while co-hosting Access Hollywood Live with Kit Hoover, Rinna not only revealed that her suspicions were true, she also told which of her co-stars on the NBC reality show let her know about the sinister scheme. “I have to thank those girls because they made me look really good. You made me look real good girls!” Lisa Rinna said of her Celebrity Apprentice co-stars, Dionne Warwick and Star Jones . “We had moments where we got along. We had a good time… We’re raising money for charity. Women get like that, you know?” Rinna admits that when she signed on to do the show, she was initially excited about her all-girl team; but those feeling soon went...

Gavin and Stacey: Ruth Jones says fat actors have plenty of roles

Home > Gavin and Stacey > Gavin and Stacey: Ruth Jones says fat actors have plenty of roles January 14th, 2011 by Lisa McGarry. No comments Ruth Jones thinks there are plenty of roles for fat actors these days. The curvaceous ‘Gavin and Stacey’ star – who is set to play 20-stone comedy legend Hattie Jacques in a BBC4 biopic – says TV bosses are a lot more open-minded than they once were, and consider all shapes and sizes for their shows. She said: “Hattie Jacques may have been stereotyped in the Sixties and Seventies but things have moved on. I don’t think we have the same over¬simplified, sizeist view now. “There are many roles for larger actors. I’ve been given many parts which are not just, ‘Oh, we need a fat person to play this character’.” Ruth – who recently lost three stone – claims she wasn’t offended by being handed the part of larger-than-life Hattie, who was famously so big she wore tents in the ‘Carry On’ movies, as she wanted to reveal the true person behind the f...

Ruth Jones will play Hattie Jacques in BBC Four drama

January 7th, 2011 by Lisa McGarry. No comments Ruth Jones takes on the role of the larger-than-life Carry On actress Hattie Jacques, in a one-off film for BBC Four that reveals how her home life was blown apart by a secret sexual liaison with her handsome young driver, based on the book by Andy Merriman – Hattie Jacques, An Authorised Biography. Hattie is a bittersweet drama about a very English love triangle and a celebration of an extraordinary icon of UK comedy. Ruth Jones says: “Hattie Jacques is a comedy heroine of mine and I’m thrilled to have been asked to play her. She was an incredibly talented and fascinating woman both on and off screen and so much more than just the ‘funny fat lady.’” The film reveals Hattie’s secret affair with a younger man, while married to Dad’s Army star John Le Mesurier in the early Sixties – a hot-blooded romance in stark contrast to the matronly roles that made her famous. Hattie Jacques began her career in the Forties, first gaining attention thro...
