December 6th, 2010 by Lisa McGarry. 42 Comments So tonight kicked off the big Coronation Street 50th anniversary celebrations and it was an action packed double bill. The second instalment ended with an explosion at The Joinery causing the derailment of a tram above the street, which then careered off the bridge and straight into the shops and houses below. It wasn’t made clear exactly who died, but those in danger include Ashley Peacock, Peter Barlow and Nick Tilsley who were at Peter’s stag night in Nick’s bar. The tram headed straight for Molly and baby Jack in Dev’s shop, so it was a pretty safe bet that she wouldn’t make it out alive and poor old Rita was lying on the floor of The Cabin when the back end of the vehicle crashed into her establishment, so her life will probably hang in the balance too.
