Coronation Street: So who survived and who died in the tram crash? *SPOILERS!*

So tonight kicked off the big Coronation Street 50th anniversary celebrations and it was an action packed double bill.

The second instalment ended with an explosion at The Joinery causing the derailment of a tram above the street, which then careered off the bridge and straight into the shops and houses below.

It wasn’t made clear exactly who died, but those in danger include Ashley Peacock, Peter Barlow and Nick Tilsley who were at Peter’s stag night in Nick’s bar.

The tram headed straight for Molly and baby Jack in Dev’s shop, so it was a pretty safe bet that she wouldn’t make it out alive and poor old Rita was lying on the floor of The Cabin when the back end of the vehicle crashed into her establishment, so her life will probably hang in the balance too.

People we know did survive…..

Ken and Deirdre, Becky, Lloyd, Leanne Battersby, Fiz, John Stape (though his stalker is well and truly dead in his back hall), Janice Battersby, Eileen Grimshaw, Kieran, Tina, Sean, Kevin, Kirk, Jason Grimshaw, and Claire Peacock.

People we didn’t see but who could be in danger…..

Sunita Alahan went to the back of the corner shop to get change minutes before the tram crash. Becky’s nephew Max escaped from the Rovers Return 20 minutes before the explosion, so could have been caught up in the tragedy.

Ashley (Steven Arnold) and Molly (Vicky Binns) will reportedly both die.

Molly will be trapped with baby jack as Kevin Webster and Tyrone Dobbs try to dig through the rubble to rescue her. Unfortunately they reach her too late and she doesn’t make it out alive.

After 15 years on the ITV soap, The Sun reports that Ashley will be seen choking to death in the wreckage – though brave cabbie Lloyd Mullaney (Craig Charles) will attempt to rescue him.

In episodes later this week…..

New doctor Matt Carter will turn The Rovers Return into a makeshift hospital. He will be assisted by Janice Battersby and Gail McIntyre and will administer medical care to victims including Peter Barlow. Fiz will go into labour and give birth to her first child Hope in the midst of all the chaos.
