Martin Tonight’s episode of Project Runway began with a surprise twist from last week’s continued episode. The designers met Tim and Heidi on the runway where they learned Team Dream Team and Team Keeping It Real were no more. Instead, the designers would be working in smaller groups for this week’s challenge. Keep reading to see how it all went down. The twelve remaining designers were told they would be working in pairs this week and they were going to be able to choose their partner. Samantha won the challenge so she got first pick. Oxygen has officially and unspurprisingly renewed The Glee Project for a second season, which will have two additional contestants. Robert Ulrich, Zach Woodlee, Nikki Anders, and (the ever-insufferable but surprisingly tolerable here) Ryan Murphy will all return. The network said in a press release that casting for season two “recently wrapped up” and resulted in “14 contenders — two more than season one.” The competition will air this summer and include “additional themes and all new music.” View the original article here

Summer’s best new reality competition series, The Glee Project , concluded its season last night, staying strong until the very end, when the winner was announced, but another person won, too—and then the other two were told they’d receive roles on Glee, too. Everybody wins! Samuel Larsen and Damian McGinty each won the show and its prize of a seven-week guest star role, while Lindsay Pearce and Alex Newell will each receive a two-episode arc. Of course, this is Glee, which doesn’t do character development or narrative, so they’re basically just going to be on the show. Ryan Murphy eliminated Alex first, then Lyndsey, telling them, “You’re not the winner of The Glee Project.” He announced Sam as the winner—but then told Damian, “You have also won The Glee Project.” Then he told the runners-up they’d get two-episode arcs: “You get something, too. Project Runway All-Stars, the all-star season of the show that now airs on Lifetime, won’t share the same judges or host with the regular series. Heidi Klum told People that it “is a completely separate show, with a separate host and a separate set of judges.” That makes it into a spin-off and different kind of show, which could still work. But it’s disappointing that the all-star season won’t be like Top Chef’s all-star season, which had the same judges evaluating contestants they’d seen previously. A Lifetime publicist confirmed Heidi Klum is not leaving the regular version of the series, despite a report to the contrary. The production of the all-star season in New York City prompted the site Rumor Fix, which is supposed to exist to combat erroneous rumors, to erroneously report that “Heidi Klum has left the hit Lifetime show Project Runway as its host.” The site has since modified their post to add “All Stars” in front of the show’s name, although re-tweets of the headline show...
Tonight, Project Runway returns for its ninth season, its fourth on Lifetime. And it will be the second season since the show rebounded last season thanks to several changes , including longer, 90-minute episodes. Will the show stay in fashion? For a Daily Beast story , I talked to two of the show’s new producers, Jon Murray and Sara Rea, and to judge Nina Garcia, who admitted the show stumbled when it moved to Lifetime. Oxygen’s The Glee Project has significantly increased its viewers since it debuted, making it the summer’s sleeper reality hit. After its low-rated premiere , the show has grown 115 percent among adults 18 to 49, 136 percent among viewers 12 to 24, and 77 percent among all viewers, according to an Oxygen press release , which calls this “impressive triple and double digit growth.” The show has an excellent cast; they are so raw and open and diverse that they make the fictional Glee characters seem pretty ridiculous by comparison. In the third episode, cast members confessed to being sexually assaulted by music producers; coming out as a junior in high school; and being judged in various ways. Pretty powerful stuff. And the show itself has some fresh twists on a familiar format (I wrote more about that when I reviewed its premiere ).
