Top Chef: Marcel Vigneron Rips on His “Totally Two-Faced” Competitors and Predicts the Top Chef Winner

« Extreme Makeover Home Edition: Remember Alex Brown Thumb Bands and Pledge | Home | Live To Dance: Finale Preview » February 1, 2011 10:30:29 by Shayla Perry After being booted from Top Chef: All-Stars in the Restaurant Wars challenge, Marcel Vigneron took some time to dish with E! Online and tell fans why he’s not an a–hole, who he thinks will win this season of the hit Bravo reality show , and what he’s got cookin’ next. “According to my friends and myself, I’m actually like a pretty nice guy,” Top Chef All-Star Marcel Vigneron told E! after his Restaurant Wars elimination. “[But] when I’m communicating with the other contestants, I’ll actually tell them how I feel. I’m kind of that person that wears my heart on my sleeve… I’ll actually kind of like let you know exactly how I’m feeling, where I think a lot of the other contestants, Dale, Mike Isabella, they act like children,” said Marcel. “I remember when I was in high school and everybody was two-faced and smiling to your f

Annoying Amazing Race team goes home, but not Kent and Vixsyn, ugh

The Amazing Race almost lost me mid-episode, and despite my now-consistent displeasure with the direction the series has taken , that hasn’t ever happened before. But starting with an insultingly inorganic and time-wasting Snapple ad was ridiculous (as I wrote last week, I’m okay with product placement, but only when it doesn’t take over). And then we had to suffer through the time-wasting filler of watching every single team except the cowboys get on the same flight. I understand the editors wanted to make sure we realized how horrible a mistake this was, so we could be impressed when they caught up later, but it’s really easy to show all the teams on the same flight (which we later saw, complete with someone rattling off every team that was on that flight), and the cowboys getting on another one. The episode also again featured a weak Detour challenge that seemed to provide no real challenge to anyone. Kids laughing while Jen and Kisha retched while manipulating buffalo poop in thei

Boardwalk Empire – Season 1 episode 1 (pilot) review

February 1st, 2011 by Lisa McGarry. No comments From the writers of the Sopranos comes the long awaited ‘Boardwalk Empire’, a gangster show set in Atlantic City, New Jersey in 1920, at the beginning of Prohibition era. Steve Buscemi (sopranos, Armageddon) plays Enoch Thomson (“Nucky”), a crocked politician who publicly supports the prohibition law, but privately runs the black market underground bootlegging business with a team of wise guys and the ‘board’ bosses, including the Mayor of Atlantic City and the Sheriff of Atlantic City – Nucky’s brother, Eli. He is accompanied by his right hand man, Jimmy (Michael Pitt), who has recently returned from fighting in World War 1, and is trying to climb the ranks of the mob ladder. This first episode sees the start of Prohibition and the organisation of one of the biggest money making enterprises of that era, bringing together the gang leaders of all the powerful states such as Arnold Rothstein and his two young recruits, ‘Lucky’ Luciano (Vin

Real Housewives of DC officially cancelled, the first Housewives series to die

While Bravo is finished creating new versions of its Real Housewives franchise, the network has, for the first time, cancelled one of the seven versions. The Real Housewives of DC has been axed after one season. The Washington Post reports that “Bethesda-based Half Yard Productions contacted the cast to let them know Washington’s contribution to Bravo’s hot docu-soap franchise would not be picked up for a second season.” And in an e.mail to the newspaper, Andy Cohen said, “We had an amazing season and we told stories that were unique to any other in the franchise. I wish all our DC Wives the best and hope to work with them again in another capacity.” Of course, it wasn’t that amazing or it’d be back; you can probably read “unique” as a euphemism for “not at all what we want from Housewives.” The paper notes that the season did okay, with 1.4 million viewers, and, of course, generated a lot of headlines , but it lost viewers over time and didn’t grab younger people, who want more

Jewelry Customs Among Eastern And Western Women

Having grown up immersed in south Asian culture, I came to be familiar with jewelry as a standard accessory and essential part of a woman’s expressive identity. In my culture, women adorn themselves with precious jewels as readily as one would put on their wristwatch here in the west. Upon moving to the United States as a young woman, I discovered that jewelry is looked upon as a luxury, usually bestowed upon a woman by her significant other, and only on special or rare occasions. Of course, I am referring to fine jewelry, as opposed to the fashion and costume jewelry that often fills the display cases at most department stores. In fact, in countries like India and my homeland of Sri Lanka, anything less than 22KT gold is not considered “real” jewelry, and wearing and collecting pieces of fine jewelry begins at an early age. My first pair of earrings, a pair of 22KT gold hoops that I still own, were in my ears at the age of six months old. Yes, six months old! No self-respecting south

Hypoallergenic Jewelry- Jewelry You Wont Have To Bear With!

Hypoallergenic jewelry is jewelry especially made for those who are allergic to presence of nickel in jewelry. Therefore, special care requires to be taken at the time of making this jewelry so that the one who wears it does not have to worry about its side effects. Many a times, normal jewelry worn might give out side effects like swelling, soreness, dermatitis, itching, etc. Hypoallergenic jewelry has been made keeping in mind special care required for all those hypoallergenic to normal jewelry. This jewelry is as chic as any other, only difference being you will not require worrying about skin irritation each time you wear it. Hypoallergenic jewelry might be a little expensive than the normal ones because of the chemical elimination required while creating this jewelry. Therefore, hypoallergenic jewelry is extremely safe for wear. Manufacturers eliminate use of harmful alloys at the time of making jewelry, there are alternatives used at the time of making the jewelry. Clasps for ea

American Idol: Randy Jackson Says He Is Not “The Mean Judge”

Keep reading to hear what Randy had to say! American Idol’s only remaining original judge, Randy Jackson recently told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show that he is not trying to be the mean judge this season or fill in Simon Cowell’s shoes for that matter. But I think you’ll see a lot of excitement.” When asked about Jennifer Lopez’s comment, Randy replied “Oh come on! Jennifer, come on, take it back! It’s not true!” So what exact

« The Biggest Loser: The Unknowns Go Back To The Ranch Tonight! | Home February 1, 2011 02:45:11 by Candace Young Episode five of The Bachelor on ABC was once again an emotional whirlwind for the ladies, as well as for Brad, who took Emily out to the race track on a group date, not knowing that her late husband had been a NASCAR race driver and owner who was on his way to a track when he was killed. Keep reading to find out what host Chris Harrison had to say about that situation, and the rest of the episode, in his blog this week… Chris begins his Entertainment Weekly blog this week by cutting to the chase and discussing what he deems the ‘most controversial moment of the season’ – Emily ending up on the race track date. That said, Chris concedes that the show knew her story and made a decision to

Hermione Norris says older women aren’t represented on TV

Home > Drama > Hermione Norris says older women aren’t represented on TV February 1st, 2011 by Lisa McGarry. No comments Hermione Norris has spoken out about the lack of quality roles for older actresses. The former Spooks actress said that women past the age of 40 aren’t represented well on current television shows and told The Radio Times: “When you get to my age, the conversations women have – the preoccupations, the frustrations, the grief – are never represented. “Sex and the City was insulting, women all clawing to their youth when there’s such ripe territory in honestly exploring women’s lives as they get older.” Promoting the new series BBC1 sci-fi drama Outcasts, Hermoine added: “Women’s magazines are designed to make you feel s****er and to buy a product. It’s tyrannical.” Follow us on Twitter ! Get the latest news and chat with @ unrealitytv Categories: Drama , News Tags: Hermione Norris View the original article here

Celebrity Apprentice’s Star Jones SLAMS NeNe Leakes in Interview

« The Biggest Loser: Cast Heads To New Zealand This Week! | Home April 12, 2011 12:00:30 by Shayla Perry Star Jones may have a lot to say in the boardroom, but when it comes to talking about her feud with The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s NeNe Leakes , the former View co-host has stayed relatively quiet…until now. In a new interview, the “Satan’s Sisters” author slams her Celebrity Apprentice co-star and even brings up NeNe’s stripper past! Oh snap! “You never get involved in a pig fight,” Star Jones tells Popeater.com’s Rob Shuter of her feud with Real Housewives of Atlanta star, NeNe Leakes. “If you do, three things happen: you get dirty, you get tired, and only the pig has fun. It diminishes me to talk about her. I have so many other things going on in my life.” One of those things would be the release of her new book, “Satan’s Sisters,” which Jones has been promoting on a variety of shows; each time, doing her best to avoid trashing her Celebrity Apprentice co-star, NeNe Leake

Cheyenne says ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’ is NOT accurate

Home > Factual > Cheyenne says ‘My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding’ is NOT accurate February 1st, 2011 by Lisa McGarry. No comments Blonde bombshell Cheyenne, star of Channel 4's My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding, has hit out at the show saying it doesn’t accurately portray her community. The 15 year old girl, who previously admitted that she thinks nothing of spending £300 of her dad’s money on a new dress, told blasted show makers and told The Sun: “It’s not accurate at all. Even our own community said we’re making ourselves look like idiots.” Cheyenne was recently seen as a victim of “grabbing”, the traveller community’s courtship that ritual involves boys muscling in on girls to get a kiss – and staking their claim on the girl as a future wife But she said: “That was blown out of proportion. Some of it’s a bit of a Mickey-take. It’s been exaggerated,” she told Star magazine. And despite the shock success of the reality TV series, don’t expect to see a second series. Cheyenne added: “We w

Karina Smirnoff will appear in Playboy, freaking out someone at Dancing with the Stars

Dancing with the Stars pro Karina Smirnoff, who’s currently paired with Ralph Macchio, will appear naked in the May issue of Playboy, which will be out in a few weeks. That’s according to Hugh Hefner, who wrote on Twitter , “The May issue of Playboy is unforgettable with Dancing With The Stars’ Karina Smirnoff on the cover & nude inside.” Karina hasn’t commented directly, but her official Facebook page linked to Radar’s story about her appearance in the magazine. This news has freaked at least one person out. Popeater quotes an anonymous “insider” at the ABC reality show who said, “If Karina posed naked, she can kiss her dancing days goodbye. I hope for Karina’s sake that this isn’t true.” Considering that Kendra Wilkinson is currently on Dancing with the Stars, never mind the fact that the photo shoot is probably already done, I cannot imagine producers or the network having a real issue with this, at least not without showing themselves to be complete hypocrites. Or maybe Pope

Fashionable Dressing

As a child I never gave importance to how I dressed. I am a very cerebral person always staying on the mental and emotional level. However, over the years I have learnt that how you dress has a great impact on the way you feel about yourself and the image you project of yourself. While spice is the variety of life, different colors give a kaleidoscopic view of life. Even though the true essence and nature of our being is untouched, it is the personality that is affected by our actions that we take toward ourselves and others. While the foods we take in affect us physically, the colors we surround ourselves with affect our moods. I had a friend who always wore white suits. There Is nothing wrong with that. It was just that she was very predictable in her dressing and in my opinion did not look interesting to look at. After a few years I saw her changing the way she dressed by gradually shifting into colored dresses and accessorizing her outfits with beautiful costume jewelry. Later as

Steve Austin's killer hosting: one great reason to watch the resurrected WWE Tough Enough

Tough Enough returned to TV last week on USA, and among its changes for its fifth season is the addition of a host: WWE’s Stone Cold Steve Austin. You might want to watch tonight at 8 p.m. ET for the challenge that involves sending angry dogs after the contestants, but it’s worth checking out just to see his surprisingly phenomenal, hilarious hosting. This is Stone Cold Steve Austin’s show, period. Yet it is also not about him like the way Donald Trump sometimes makes the show about himself. I actually cannot think of another reality series where the host is so prominent yet also keeps the focus so strongly on the contestants. Steve Austin is walking a line here that even the best in the business, Jeff Probst and Ryan Seacrest, tend to miss sometimes, swinging too far over to one side (being critics and viewer stand-ins) or the other (thinking of themselves as stars who deserve more attention than the contestants). And hosting isn’t easy; just look at Bobby Flay and his re-recorded l

Derek Hough skipping Dancing with the Stars 12, but will return for 13

Three-time Dancing with the Stars winner Derek Hough is leaving the show for a season, but he says he will return for the 13th season in the fall. Instead of competing, he’ll be filming Cobu 3D, playing a dancer who falls in love with a character played by singer BoA. “I’m taking season 12 off,” Derek told People . “I will be making it back to Dancing with the Stars in the fall. I’m just taking a little break and taking this chance to grow and expand a little bit as an artist. It’s like I told one of the producers on the show — I’ll come back with a whole new set of skills.” That’s because the film will feature “a much edgier side of me and these other styles of dance I’m capable of doing,” he said. Producers are supportive of his absence. Executive producer Conrad Green told the magazine, “We wish Derek the best as he takes time off from Dancing with the Stars to pursue his film career, and look forward to having him return to the show in the fall.” View the original article here

Survivor auctions have made $400,000 for Jeff Probst's charity

Survivor »     by Andy Dehnart / January 31, 2011, 8:54 AM Jeff Probst’s charity The Serpentine Project has been the recipient of money earned from the end-of-season Survivor auctions for the past two years, and that has taken the charity from one funded by Jeff himself to one that now has about $400,000. Variety reports that “Probst funded the nonprofit org, which currently serves six youths, almost entirely by himself,” but the auctions “[have] put an estimated $400,000 in Serpentine’s coffers, which pays for college tuition, books and rent.” Besides the prop auctions, tickets to Survivor Gabon’s finale were auctioned off in November of 2008, and the charity also benefited from a Samoa set visit auction . The organization exists to help former foster kids transition into self-sufficiency, and recently merged with The Alliance for Children’s Rights , which calls itself “Los Angeles’s pre-eminent free legal services organization dedicated solely to protecting impoverished, abused a

Front-runner Pia's shocking! elimination: probably the American Idol judges' fault

Perceived front-runner Pia Toscano was voted off American Idol 10 last night instead of Stefano Langone, shocking the studio audience, viewers at home, and the judges. It was so surprising that Ryan Seacrest begged viewers to not bail on the entire season. Randy Jackson said, “no, no,” and then, as the camera cut away, appeared to say, “fuck no.” Jennifer Lopez—who’d previously suffered the indignity of Iggy Pop’s horrifying shirtless torso writhing in front of her—cried and said “I’m shocked. I’m angry.” But this is likely the judges’ fault. First, they wasted their save on Casey Abrams , and thus were unable to do anything. This is exactly the kind of scenario the save was designed for, but they used it immediately instead of waiting. (If the show was as fixed as some people say it was, the producers would have given them another save to use last night.) The vote may have also been the result of the judges’ failure to critique the finalists. As Craig Berman writes for msnbc.com , “i

Is Jon "Jonny Fairplay" Dalton returning to Survivor? He says he has "no plans to return"

A report suggests that Jon Dalton, aka Jonny Fairplay, will return to Survivor during one of next year’s seasons, something Dalton himself alluded to about year ago. And he said recently that if he returns, it might be to face off against Richard Hatch. Yesterday, a person named Brian Anderson posted on Survivor’s Facebook page , “Saw ‘Johnny Fairplay’ at a local wrestling event last night and he told me he was taking part in filming All Stars 2 this summer. Thats all he could tell me about it.” Since Survivor now films both its fall and spring seasons in the same location during the previous summer, the show needs a twist for at least one of those seasons, and as I reported last January, that would take the form of an all-star and regular season each year . So far, that pattern has held up, though obviously there are only two returning cast members for this spring’s seasons. A year ago, after the cast for Survivor Heroes vs. Villains was released, Jonny Fairplay was asked why he wasn

OWN's most-popular show is Oprah Behind the Scenes; Your OWN Show is losing viewers

OWN »     by Andy Dehnart / January 31, 2011, 9:42 AM After a month on the air, OWN’s most-popular series is also its best reality show : Season 25: Oprah Behind the Scenes . And its weak reality competition Your OWN Show has actually lost viewers. The network’s CEO, Christina Norman, told Broadcasting and Cable that the competition has “been declining. So that’s disappointing to us. We believe in that show we think it’s fun and it was a great way for us to showcase the audience in a different way but maybe they don’t want competition reality from us.” I hope she doesn’t make a sweeping judgment like that from a single series; perhaps try airing a competently produced competition series first, and see what happens then. Norman told the AP that while the show “hasn’t really found its audience, and that’s kind of a drag,” it will still give a show to one of its highly unlikeable cast members. “Somebody’s going to win, and somebody’s life is really going to change,” Norman said. Matt rejoins Survivor, and his stupidity sends him back to Redemption Island. Oh, God!

The merge has arrived on Survivor Redemption Island, and with it, the show kicked back into high gear. After winning six consecutive challenges, Matt re-entered the game, joining the merged tribe—and then it voted him out immediately, thanks to his own stupidity. Post-merge, Matt had two solid options: stay with the alliance made up of his original tribe, the one that voted him out, or join with the other tribe and go after those who voted him out. Instead, he decided to “honor my God,” he said, by staying with his original tribe but telling Rob, the very person who orchestrated his ouster, that he was planning on turning against them. Rob was appalled by his “audacity” and “stupidity,” and said, “It just confirmed he can’t be trusted. … He can still be a good Christian guy—on Redemption Island,” Rob said. Yes, Redemption Island is back for round two! That was unexpected. Although Matt rejoined the game, the post-merge losers will be sent there to duel one another, with whoever is sti
