Derek Hough has made the announcement thousands of his fans have been dreading.  He is leaving his role as professional dancer of the hit show Dancing with the Stars.  However, it may only be a temporary hiatus.  Keep reading to find out what Derek Hough is going to do now.

Derek Hough has told People that he will not be competing in the upcoming season of Dancing With The Stars, season 12, scheduled to start this spring.  Instead he will be filming a movie where he will be dancing (what else?).  Derek Hough is going to be busy filming Cobu 3D in Toronto and New York.

Derek will be playing a street dancer in the movie who falls in love with a member of a rival dance group.  As they battle it out will they find true love or will someone get their heart broken?  He claims it will give him a whole new layer when he does come back to Dancing With The Stars and claims that, “People will see a much edgier side of me and these other styles of dance I’m capable of doing.” Many of his fans however will surely be worried that he may not find his way back to the stage he has become famous on.   What if he becomes the next Patrick Swayze and finds a great career in movies and millions of more adoring fans?

Derek Hough has won the past two seasons of Dancing With The Stars.  Since he is forfeiting the trophy this season, will a new star appear on the hit show?  Let us know what you think.  Are you happy or upset that Derek Hough will not be back this spring.
