Live To Dance: Finale Preview

« | Home | »

February 1, 2011 12:00:21 by Allyson Wells

Live To Dance has nearly narrowed down a very competitive dance field for its finale showdown, which will begin this week.  Paula Abdul and co-judges Kimberly Wyatt and Travis Payne have selected three acts for the finale, while the viewers have also selected three.

The Live To Dance finale will showcase a wide variety of dance acts.  The judges have chosen large dancing group, The Vibe, married ballet couple White Tree Fine Art, and men’s dancing group Dance Town Chaos.  The viewers have selected young couple D’Angelo and Amanda and all-female plus one male abstract dancing group, Twitch.  The final viewer’s choice will be revealed on Wednesday.  So far, no soloist has been selected to make it through to the finals.  Eleven-year-old Kendall Glover and Roosevelt are the last soloists remaining that could get voted in to the finale by the viewers.

Based on the judging preferences during the semi-final rounds, the finale could prove to be wild.  Kimberly is mesmerized with White Tree Fine Art, while Travis disagreed with her and felt that he couldn’t get excited by them.  He preferred to watch dancers with superior modern technique, such as The Vibe.  Staying true to her American Idol judging patterns, Paula loves almost everyone.  The round two semi-final was a split decision between the judges.  Could the finale also be controversial?

The show has not revealed if Paula will still be mentoring the dance acts.  Her mentoring has proven to be beneficial to the acts that advanced to the finale.  In round three, Jill and Jacob disagreed with Paula’s suggestions and received harsh criticism from the judges after dancing.

Are there any acts you are rooting for or excited to see?  Twitch has been one of my favorite acts since the beginning.  I’m also hoping to see a soloist land into the finale as well to make it more well-rounded.  Tune in on Wednesday at 8 on CBS to see all the action go down on Live To Dance!
