Upcoming Daytime Talk Show Won’t Stop Jeff Probst From Hosting Survivor

November 10, 2011 05:36 PM by Ryan Haidet

As you’ve probably heard by now, Survivor host Jeff Probst is not replacing Regis Philbin like many had been speculating.  Instead, Probst has been given his own daytime talk show, which has been titled “Jeff Probst.”  Creative, I know.  But will this new daily television dedication kill his opportunity to keep hosting Survivor?  The good news is that Probst says he will be able to work on both shows!  Read on for more!

That’s right!  Probst’s upcoming 2012 syndicated talk show won’t stop him from returning to Survivor.  “I’m fascinated with people,” Probst said in a press release from CBS Television Distribution.  “And I love adventure.  I can’t wait to bring these two worlds together in daytime, and the added bonus is I get to continue with Survivor in prime-time.”

Awesome news!  Glad you can stick around, Jeff.  Tribal Council just wouldn’t be the same without you.  Plus, why would you want to leave when you’re making an estimated $200,000 per episode?!?!

His comments came within a press release that was issued to announce that his show self-titled talk show had been sold to stations in more than 55 percent of the country. “The show was sold to the NBC owned Television Stations in New York (WNBC), Los Angeles (KNBC), Philadelphia (WCAU), Dallas-Fort Worth (KXAS), San Francisco Bay Area (KNTV), Miami (WTVJ), San Diego (KNSD) and Hartford, Connecticut (WVIT),” the release declares.  “The show is sold in 16 of the top 20 markets, including to stations from the following groups: CBS Television Stations, Gannett Broadcasting Group, Post-Newsweek Stations, Belo Corp, Cox Television, Scripps Howard Broadcasting and LIN Television.”

John Nogawski, president of CTD, said in the press release that stations across the country have been very embracing of their vision to recreate the classic talk show.  “Jeff developed his listening and storytelling skills on the prime-time hit Survivor, and his hosting appeal was cemented on Live With Regis and Kelly and Larry King Live.  Jeff has the ingredients to become an instant asset to stations and provide a strong lead in to their newscasts.”

Probst’s talk show will last one hour and cover topics ranging from relationships and family dynamics to newsmakers of the day to families and individuals facing challenges.

What do you think of this announcement?  Are you happy Probst will be able to work on both shows?  Will you watch his daytime talk show?  Sound off and leave us a comment below!
