The Bachelorette: Jillian Harris Responds to Julien Hug’s Shocking Death

We were all shocked to hear about the death of former Bachelorette contestant, Julien Hug. What did Bachelorette Jillian Harris have to say to the ABC reality star’s grieving family? Keep reading for all the details.

Julien Hug, a contestant on Season 5 of ABC’s The Bachelorette was found dead off of a highway in the Southern California desert. Hug, from SanDiego, was reportedly on his way to help his family with their newest restaurant in Palm Desert, California on Monday, and went missing.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Deputy confirmed that the body of a “deceased male adult” was found on Wednesday in Pinyon Pines. The Sheriff’s Department is not releasing the name of the person, and the manner of death will be released after an autopsy has been completed, but a Hug family spokesperson confirmed to KGTV that the body was in fact the former Bachelorette contestant.

Upon receiving the news of  35-year-old Hug’s death, Jillian Harris released a statement.:

“I am completely heartbroken for the Hug family, and my whole heart goes out to them today as they mourn a precious life that ended far too soon. It’s very difficult to find the words to express my condolences, but I will always remember Julien’s gentle demeanor and kind heart, which will be sadly missed.”

On the show, Hug described himself as an adventurer, telling cameras on the Season 5 opener, “The sense of freedom that comes from skydiving is a big thrill.”

Despite only making it to the second week of eliminations, Hug told audiences he felt that he had a connection with Jillian Harris, saying, “Jillian and Julien together forever. That sounds great.”
