Richard Hatch, the first and often undressed winner of Survivor and contestant on the upcoming Celebrity Apprentice, who spent three years in jail for tax evasion could be heading back to his home behind bars. Federal prosecutors are recommending more jail time after finding that Richard Hatch violated his terms for release. Will he really head back to the slammer and what did he do?
According to reports, back in 2006 Richard Hatch was ordered to file amended tax returns for 2000 and 2001 when he was originally sentenced for not paying taxes on his $1,000,000 Survivor winnings and other income. He currently owes $1.7 million in back taxes. Per IRS records there have been no amended taxes filed and this they say is a violation of his probation.
According to Richard Hatch and his lawyer he was only following proper procedure by not filing amended returns while he awaits an appeal with the US Tax Court. Prosecuters claim that Richard Hatch has a history of lying to the courts and following court orders and should be sent back to jail for the remained of his two years of probation. What do you think?
If Richard Hatch is sent back to jail, how will it affect his appearance on the upcoming season of Celebrity Apprentice. We don’t know yet how far he makes it on Donald Trumps show, but if by some chance he made it into the finale, would Trump disqualify him? Knowing Hatch though, his rudeness probably got him kicked out of the boardroom early. Will you be watching Celebrity Apprentice and do you think Richard Hatch should return to jail, or is he in the right by waiting for the appeal process to be completed.
