Amid a host of rumors swirling around the Internet about the death of  the former contestant of ABC’s The Bachelorette, police say that it’s still too early to determine what happened to the reality star, whose body was recently found off a California highway. Keep reading for the latest details.

Riverside County Sheriff Deputy Melissa Nieburger says that despite a number of false reports and rumors being spread online about the shocking death of 35-year-old Julien Hug, former contestant on Season 5 of ABC’s The Bachelorette, it’s still too early to determine exactly what caused his untimely death. But Nieburger asserts that “all possible causes are being looked into.”

Hug’s body was found in the San Bernardino National Forest, police confirmed Thursday. Other than telling reporters that no foul play was suspected in the mysterious death, authorities are declining to release any additional information.

Coming forth on behalf of Hug’s parents, Bertrand and Denise, a spokeswoman said in a statement today: “The family is very distraught and heartbroken and will not comment on any rumors or speculation. They appreciate all of the kind words and condolences they have received and continue to ask for privacy as they mourn privately.”

Earlier, the Hug family released another statement, remembering Julien, their only child, as a kind man–an adventurer, who had an interest in motorcycles, sports cars and skydiving, and helped with the family business “starting at age 14 as a dishwasher and worked his way through the ranks to become restaurant host and manager.”

A memorial service for Hug has been planned for November 12 at the Village Church in Rancho Santa Fe, California.
