The iTunes Festival has been one of the best I can remember in terms of the line up. We’ve had some of the worlds biggest bands, solo artists and we’re not done yet.

Tonight Italian composer Ludovico Einaudi will take to the stage at the Roundhouse in London from 9pm.

Ludovico Einaudi isn’t a name familiar to many, not unless you’re a big classical music fan or pay close attention to who writes film and TV music pieces.

Einaudi was born in November 1995 and is an Italian pianist and composer. He trained in Milan at the Conservatorio Verdi in the early 1980s with composer Lucaiano Berio.

Einaudi initially began his career as a classical composer but it didn’t take him long to incorporate other genres and styles including folk music, rock, world music and even pop.

If we look at some of the films and TV scores Einaudi has composed then perhaps you may recognise some of his work. In his career he has composed the scores for a number of trailers and movies including ‘Doctor Zhivago’, ‘I’m Still Here’ and ‘The Intouchables’.

In 1996 he scored ‘Acquario’ which led him onto winning the ‘Grolla d’oro’ for best soundtrack.

The now 57 year old has released a number of solo albums of piano and the orchestra including ‘I Giorni’ in 2001, ‘Nightbook’ in 2009 and ‘In a Time Lapse’ in 2013.

Whether you’re a classical music fan or not (and I like to say I am) tonights performance while different from others will be something special I’m sure of that.

Remember the iTunes Festival kicks off tonight at 7:45pm with a special performance from Claudio Sinatti before Ludovico Einaudi takes to the stage at 9pm.

What have you got to lose? It’s free of charge to watch so give it a go. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

Have a listen to ‘Oltremare’ by Ludovico Einaudi below ahead of tonights performance.
