Don’t Expect Twerking On Dancing With The Stars

Bruno Tonioli says he’s pumped to see season 17's cast twerking on Dancing With The Stars, but don’t expect the likes of Bill Nye and Valerie Harper to go all Miley Cyrus on the dance floor. Several current cast members agree that twerking is not about to become part of their dancing repertoire.

From Harry Styles at the Teen Choice Awards to Miley Cyrus at the VMAs, we’ve witnessed our fair share of twerking these past few months. But even more of it on Dancing With The Stars? It’s Bruno’s dream come true, but a complete nightmare for those actually taking the stage. Leah Remini is particularly against the idea, having told USA Today, “You couldn’t pay me to do that. You couldn’t even put a dollar amount on it. It’s the ugliest, most unattractive, unbecoming thing I have ever seen done by a female.”

Christina Milian seems like the type of chick who might get her twerk on in the clubs, but she certainly has no plans of incorporating the hot dance move into her DWTS routines. “I’m going to leave twerking behind, it’s become such a fad. It’s not even cool anymore.”

If there’s one cast member fans would LOVE to see attempting a twerking session, it’s Bill Nye the Science Guy. But again, if you’ve been hoping for Bill to get down and dirty, you’re bound to come away disappointed. He says he’ll definitely be sticking to traditional ballroom, which he terms as the “civilized part of sex.” And no, he has no problem with a dance move being sexualized — he just thinks that ballroom is far sexier than twerking, explaining that it’s “more interesting and more intriguing when you have the sexual tension without the apparent gratification.”
