FOX is set to own the TV this evening as New Girl and The Mindy Project are kicking off the new season in style.

This evening, The Mindy Project is set to return for its sophomore season and it looks like it’s going to be a brilliant premiere episode. Mindy ends up in hospital and she gets replaced by none other than a Dr. Leotard.

As we saw at the end of the first season, Mindy chopping her weave off and headed out to Haiti with her minister boyfriend, Casey. She originally didn’t want to go, then changed her mind and then decided she wanted to go and volunteer with Casey in Haiti for 12 months.

The episode kicks off this evening as Casey and Mindy are adjusting to their new life in Haiti, living in a tent the size of a box. However, Mindy’s worst nightmare – or even all her blessings come at once as she has to be air lifted to hospital back in New York when she suddenly falls sick.

When she comes round, her colleagues are waiting by her bed side to see how she is.

Whilst Mindy is away in Haiti, she is replaced by a new doctor at Shulman & Associates. The new doctor in town is Paul Leotard played by James Franco.

Leotard is a former model who also happens to be a sex therapist and offers therapy advice to Danny and Christina. The pair who got it back on toward the latter end of season one are having a few problems in the bedroom department. Danny uses the excuse in one of the clips that he’s too bloated to get freaky between the sheets.

We also see Franco’s character tease Danny when he begins to talk about his sperm before revealing that he’s all good in that department really.

Upon returning to work, Mindy finds out that her replacement is a lot more popular than she is and she doesn’t like it. There’s a mix of sexual tension and jealousy from Mindy’s behalf and Franco just brushes it off.

Mindy tells him: “You do know you’re trying to out-cute the cutest person in this office!”

We know that Franco will be around in next week’s episode as well so Mindy is going to have to deal with him… for now!

The Mindy Project returns this evening at 9:30/8:30c on FOX.
