5 Seconds Of Summer have had an incredible amount of success recently and while their debut album failed to reach the top of the UK charts they’re not letting that stop them.
The band made a very special announcement yesterday but not all their fans were happy about the big news. There’s been a bit of trouble to say the least!
We can’t believe it’s almost been a year since the MTV VMAs but it’s making a comeback for 2014 on the 24th of August at The Forum in Los Angeles.
Every year at the MTV VMAs some of the biggest performers gather and put on a show for millions watching around the world and this year will be no different.
Talking on their collective Twitter page yesterday 5 Seconds Of Summer revealed that they will be performing at the awards ceremony next month but it means they’ve had to cancel a few shows.
“HELLO, we have some awesome news to tell you…. were performing at the @MTV VMAs in August! to be asked & given this opportunity’s incredible, we cant be more excited about it #5SOSVMAs.”
“This means we need to cancel our #WWAT supports in Dallas & St Louis were sorry if u were hoping to see us but we’ll have more news soon!” they added.
It’s going to be a great honour for the band to be performing on such a big stage, however fans hoping to see them at the Dallas and St Louis shows have been expressing their upset and disappointment and comments on UnrealityTV.co.uk have included:
“This proves 5sos are selfish and do not care about their fans at all
I hope 1D kick them out of other dates as well.”
“I hope you are happy. You just broke my daughter’s heart.”
“5SOS are getting a bit big for their boots. They would be no where without 1D. They only got famous in the first place because of their association with 1D and because Louis and Niall kept tweeting about them when they were nobodies”
The artwork for 5 Second Of Summer’s debut album5 Seconds Of Summer have been supporting One Direction on their tour and they performed last night (July 9th) in Barcelona and Ashton Irwin took to Twitter to talk about fan safety.
Talking about why they work hard to stop fans being crushed he explained: “Me and the lads really fought for any mosh at all at the tour, it’s too hard to keep you guys safe,
He continued: “nothing worse then seeing people being crushed, battered and bruised whilst on stage, sorry if some of you are upset about it.”
Irwin added that the band just have their fans best interests at heart and don’t want them turned into “pretzels”.
