Paula Abdul will become the head judge on So You Think You Can Dance—though the Australian version, not the in-need-of-a-makeover Fox version, when it returns in 2014.
The Australian version was cancelled after three seasons in 2010, but Network Ten
has picked up a version now produced by Shine Australia. The Telegraph calls this “a youthful reinvention” of the show that will also feature “Aussie ballroom king Jason Gilkison, hot choreographer Shannon Holtzapffel and Tap Dogs star Aaron Cash” as judges. The show’s new host will be Carrie Bickmore from The Project.
In a statement, Paula said, “I am thrilled to be a part of this great show and to experience first-hand the skill, passion and athleticism of these dancers. Aussie dancers are without doubt some of the best in the world and it is an honour for me to be a part of finding Australia’s best dancer.”
