Dexter showrunner, Scott Buck has just signed a new two-year deal with Showtime in which he will work on a ānumber of new projectsā.
The news was announced by Showtimeās Entertainment president David Nevins at yesterdayās Television Critics Association press tour panel.
He said: āFor the last seven seasons, Scott has helped shepherd Dexter, the most valuable and lucrative franchise we have ever had. We really wanted to remain in business with Scott, and we are looking forward to getting to work with him on a number of new projects. Iām incredibly excited to see what he has up his sleeveā.
On the note of Dexter being one of the most āvaluable and lucrative franchiseā deals the network has ever had, it doesnāt look like theyāre letting the show end that easily.
Over the last year or so there has been a lot of speculation about a Dexter spin-off being in the works, but nothing has ever been confirmed, it has always been brushed under the carpet or joked about.
But, Nevins teased at the press tour that there could indeed be a spin-off in the works, with Buck being signed up for another two years at the very least, it only adds fuel to the already burning fire.
Nevins said: āOf course. We just signed a deal with Scott Buck⦠draw your own conclusionsā.
So, it seems like a spin-off is very much on the cards and for a show as successful as Dexter, it would be silly to let it die down.
Elsewhere, Buck is already developing several different projects for Showtime, including an adaptation of Matthew Specktorās American Dream Machine, in which Dexter star Michael C. Hall is also on board to executive producer.
Dexter continues on Sundayās on Showtime!
