America’s Got Talent Premiere: Did Heidi Klum And Mel B Fit In?

Sharon Osbourne left very big shoes to fill on America’s Got Talent, to the extent that NBC felt the need to replace her with not one, but two new female judges. But are Mel B and Heidi Klum capable of making up for Sharon’s absence?

As with many reality talent competitions (with the possible exception of Dancing with the Stars) the judging panel on America’s Got Talent has seen quite the shakeup in the last few years. In 2012, Howard Stern joined in, drawing both admiration and ire from the show’s dedicated viewers. A few months later, Sharon Osbourne left NBC in a huff over her son’s perceived mistreatment, leaving a spot wide open for a new judge…or two. The ensuing replacements, Mel B and Heidi Klum, were met with limited enthusiasm in the days and weeks following their announcement. Now the question remains: can these ladies prove the naysayers wrong?

In the aftermath of America’s Got Talent‘s season premiere, the answer to this question is still pretty murky. Those who have already witnessed Heidi Klum on Project Runway may note that the model turned reality judge is largely the same on AGT, which is to say, sweet but kinda boring. She does, however, make a great fall man woman for Howard Stern and Howie Mandel’s stupid jokes. Mel B, on the other hand, brought the sass that you would expect from a former Spice Girl, providing a particularly enthusiastic response to the amazing tween singer Anna Christine.

It’s still too early to know whether Mel B and Heidi Klum will prove to be sufficient replacements for Sharon Osbourne on America’s Got Talent, but thus far, the two have definitely surpassed expectations! What did you think of their AGT debut? Feel free to share your reaction in the comments section below!
