BRITAIN'S HIDDEN CHILD ABUSE- CHANNEL 4 DISPATCHES SPECIAL

Dispatches returns this evening for another hard hitting and explosive instalment episode in the documenarty series.

Tonight’s show centres on a victim of child sex abuse, who goes undercover to get to the bottom of a sex ring which is operating in one of Britain’s religious communities.

The abuse has been long carried out and it’s estimated that this particular ring has been in action for more than four decades without being exposed. The year-long investigation includes conversations with other victims of child abuse who were abused within this very secretive and closed off community and some reveal that they tried to expose the issues but were angered by the treatment they received at the hands of their leaders, who failed to deal appropriately with the illegal behaviour.

Some victims did go to the police, to seek an end to their trauma, but were subjected to physical and mental abuse by members of their community. They were spat at and ostracised by former friends and neighbours.

The report also reveals that one alleged perpetrator of abuse was permitted to continue working with young people, even though complaints had been made by former victims.

As a result some victims reveal that they have become so angry and frustrated by the continuing abuse, that they took matters into their own hands and tell Dispatches that they have threatened and attacked those they believe to be paedophiles.
