January 29th, 2013 by Anna Howell.

With his Hollyoaks exit only weeks away Emmett J Scanlan has revealed that the end of Brendan Brady will include a spectacular stunt!

We reported earlier this month how Emmett, who plays the double B moustached monster that is Brendan Brady, was bowing out of the hit Channel 4 soap later this year after two and a half years playing the menacing, yet much loved character.

Brendan, who will go down in history as one of Britain’s best loved soap characters of all time, has remained one of the darkest, most complicated Hollyoaks residents throughout his time on the show, and is never far away from any of the shows drama. During his 2 and a half years on our screens he has been involved in at least three murders (that we know of), including that of his own grandmother.

He has also been at the centre of a disturbing homosexual domestic violence storyline with love of his life, Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) whilst trying to come to terms with his own sexuality. However, despite these many, many wrong-doings, it is only ever with fondness that people refer to Brendan, and utter respect with which they refer to Emmett J. Scanlan, the actor who plays him.

Now that the end is nigh, Emmett has confirmed that he is all set to film his final scenes, and that they include a stunt of spectacular proportions.

Speaking to the Daily Star newspaper, Emmet explained: “I was doing some stunts today and I’m looking forward to filming the last bits,

“I can’t wait for everyone to see it. I think it’s going to be a good pay-off for the fans. “I’m not going to tell you whether I live or die because that would ruin it but it’s touch-and-go a couple of times.

“Hollyoaks is balls-out telly. We take risks all the time – we do crazy storylines, major stunts. We don’t film soaps like any other soaps.

“With Brendan’s exit we’re going to do some stuff that’s never been done before.”

With regards to the reaction he has received following his announcement to leave, he continued: “Some of them said, ‘Don’t go’ and others said, ‘F**k off!”

Many fans have speculated that the departure of Brendan Brady will damage Hollyoaks ratings and reputation, of which the Irish actor was quick to quash: “That’s absolute s**te,” he said.

“I know the storylines after I leave and they’re awesome. “Hollyoaks is at its highest in two years but it’s going to go from strength to strength. I’m delighted.”

Brendan’s final scenes will be filmed at the end of this month and will air on Channel 4 in March.

Hollyoaks can be seen week nights at 6.30pm on Channel 4/ Channel 4 HD.

Watch out for our EXCLUSIVE interview with Emmett J. Scanlan about his departure coming very soon!
