Jim Bob Duggar

Patriarch of the Duggar clan, Jim Bob Duggar of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting is tossing his support behind Rick Santorum in the upcoming 2012 presidential campaign. And when Jim Bob Duggar is behind you, so are quite a few other people. At least half of the family was in Iowa this week, stumping for Rick Santorum.

Jim Bob Duggar and Rick Santorum have quite a bit in common. They are both fathers of large families (there are 19 kids in the Duggar family and seven kids in the Santorum family), homeschooling advocates, and share many of the same political stances, including being pro-life.

“I’m asking families, Christians all over America, to get behind Rick Santorum for the next president of the United States,” Jim Bob Duggar said. Michelle Duggar, Jim Bob’s wife since 1984, is even reportedly recording an automated campaign call for Rick Santorum, a Republican who is hoping to win the GOP caucus in Iowa today. This is the first caucus in the GOP primary; the winner will face President Barack Obama in the 2012 presidential election.

Jim Bob Duggar’s support caught Rick Santorum a bit by surprise. The family showed up on the campaign trail in Iowa in a giant bus decorated with banners reading, ”Join the fight ‘Rick Santorum for president.’” Rick Santorum had no idea who had hired the bus, and even grilled his staff to make sure it wasn’t one of their ideas. Then he went inside and found the Duggar crew, ready to help him on the campaign trail.

How to make: A fashionable cake

The Stella McCartney ‘fruit print’ has become one of the most iconic patterns for the season, with high street brands such as Zara following suit. However, the look can be fairly difficult to pull off unless you’re a stick thin model, so we’ve found a way to get your fashion fix and your hunger fix for a fraction of the cost of a real Stella. Butter two 8?, 9? or 10? round cake pans, line the bottoms with greaseproof paper, butter again, and dust with flour, tapping out the excess.
