The BBC’s hugely popular The Magicians returns to our screens this Saturday, January 7th at 6:35pm, and it promises to be “an astonishing line-up of magicians who train their celebrity assistants through a range of seemingly impossible tricks.”

Series two will consist of a whopping six episodes, each 75 minutes long, and will be transmitted lived from the BBC’s studios.

And there’s a new host for series two, Darren McMullen, who has formerly presented show in Australia and America.

Of landing the role of host on The Magicians, Darren said, “I can’t wait to host live shows here.

“The Magicians is a huge entertainment show and talked about around the world so I can’t wait to be at the heart of it…

“Being a live show, the pressure really will be on the magicians and whether or not they can pull off dangerous stunts in front of a live audience.

“I’m certainly going to have to have my wits about me!”

As will the stars of the show, returning magicians Barry and Stuart, and newbies Pete Firman and Jason Latimer.

Each week, each magician will be paired with a celebrity partner, and among the celebs starring are Daniel Roche, Tyger Drew-Honey, Tina Hobley, David Hasselhoff, Julia Bradbury, Joe Swash, Mel Giedroyc, Myleene Klass, Arlene Phillips, John Torode and Gregg Wallace.

Also taking part this year are boxer David Haye, former England cricketer Phil Tufnell, Strictly Come Dancing’s Flavia Cacace and Craig Revel Horwood. Comedian Ed Byrne is also to appear, as are Kimberly Wyatt, Keith Duffy, and street dancer George Sampson.

The BBC adds, “Together the Magicians and celebrities perform four illusions, two live and two pre-recorded, from the classic to the never-attempted before, after which their performances will be put to the viewers’ vote.”

The magician and celebrity pair with the fewest votes will then face a live and dramatic forfeit, which will be a dangerous trick that no-one really wants to tackle!

How to make: A fashionable cake

The Stella McCartney ‘fruit print’ has become one of the most iconic patterns for the season, with high street brands such as Zara following suit. However, the look can be fairly difficult to pull off unless you’re a stick thin model, so we’ve found a way to get your fashion fix and your hunger fix for a fraction of the cost of a real Stella.
