Kim Kardashian has had a rough couple of months. Under attack for her infamous 72-day marriage to basketball player Kris Humphries, Kim is bouncing back with humanitarian work and a little something for herself.

Kourtney and Kim Take New York star, Kim Kardashian went into hiding after announcing the end of her short marriage to Kris Humphries, only to reemerge to serve Thanksgiving to the homeless at the Los Angeles Mission. But this was just the beginning of her humanitarian work.

Kim Kardashian, along with mom Kris Jenner, actress Patricia Arquette and designer Donna Karan, traveled to Haiti with We Advance, an organization started by actress Maria Bello.  We Advance, set up after the devastating January 2010 earthquake,  strives to “advance the health, safety and well being of women throughout Haiti”, according the their website.

While In Haiti, Kim visited the Artists for Peace & Justice School, replenished clinics, attended a local fashion show and treated 500 orphaned children to gifts. The trip was topped off with an intimate meeting with the President of Haiti, Michel Martelly. Kim called the experience “amazing”.

Nothing can heal a broken heart like helping others and priceless jewels.  Kim has always been outspoken about her love of Elizabeth Taylor. She has channeled her in photos, name dropped her as an idol and even conducted  her last interview, done for Harper’s Bazaar. So when her enormous collection of jewelry went up for auction this week it should be no surprise that Kim Kardashian wanted  a little something for herself. She bid on, and won 3 Lorainne Schwartz jade bracelets for $65,000.

Elizabeth Taylor was an idol of mine and I’m honored to now own something from her collection,” Kim Kardashian, 31, told Us Weekly. “The Lorraine Schwartz jade bracelets are special because jade transfers energy, so I will cherish these bracelets with her energy in them for the rest of my life!”
