Emmerdale’s Dominic Power hopes Cameron and Debbie stay together

December 20th, 2011 by Sarah. No comments

Things for Cameron Murray and Debbie Dingle have never been easy, given that he was married when they met in Jersey, and subsequently, he left his wife and kids to be with Debbie in Yorkshire…

And since then, their relationship has been put under tremendous strain, not least because they discovered that Debbie’s daughter Sarah has Fanconi Anaemia and needs a bone marrow transplant to stand any hope of survival.

As fans of the show will know, Debbie (Charley Webb) and her ex – Sarah’s dad – Andy Sugden (Kelvin Fletcher) have been desperately trying everything they can think of to conceive a ‘saviour sibling’ who can donate the precious marrow to Sarah (Sophia Amber Moore).

And things are to get yet more desperate and out of control when Debbie suggests that she and Andy should sleep together in an attempt to conceive a baby naturally.

Not unreasonably, this isn’t what Cameron – who’s played by Dominic Power, who has also starred in The Bill – wants to happen, but given that it could ultimately save little Sarah’s life, he has no choice but to go along with the plan…

However, Andy’s girlfriend Alicia Gallagher (Natalie Anderson) can’t bring herself to be quite so amicable over the plan, and things between her and Debbie come to a rather messy head on Christmas Day, as you can see in this picture…

But while speaking to Take It Easy magazine about the storyline, and what lies ahead for Cameron and Debbie, Dominic said, “On the exterior, he’s trying to elastoplast a smile on for the sake of Debbie…

“But I think at some point he will implode or explode, one of the two, possibly into the New Year.

“Around Christmas, he becomes a bit of a peacemaker because everyone’s so tense because of the situation.

“Christmas is stressful anyway as everyone has such high expectations. When there’s alcohol involved and that kind of anticipation of the perfect day, then expect some stress.”

And when asked if he thinks Cameron and Debbie can survive the stress of Sarah’s illness and the attempts to conceive a sibling, Dominic said, “They both hope so, because they’re having lots of fun together.

“It would be great to ride this one out, because every day Charley Webb and I turn up to work and make each other laugh.

“It’s a relationship that’s growing between two actors – there’s definitely some mileage in it.”

I hope they stay together, though, I must admit, that’s primarily because I don’t want Dominic to leave the show. Let’s face it, he’s not bad to look at is he?!

Let’s take a look at him in action as Cameron…
