Last night on FOX’s Hell’s Kitchen, we watched as Gina Melcher was eliminated due to her communication issues. In an interview today, Gina Melcher admits that the drama may have played a part in her axing last night! Read on for more!
Hell’s Kitchen fans watched a lot of drama last night and communication failure, which ultimately led to Gina Melcher’s elimination. In an exclusive interview with Gina this morning, she dished about her time on the show and what she would have done differently – check it out below!
RTVM: Were shocked that you were not on the chopping block last night, but were eliminated anyway?
Gina Melcher: That was a jawbreaker. I had a feeling I might have been going, I thought it would definitely be one of us three girls, but when Elise and Krupa were up there, I thought I was in the clear.
RTVM: Do you think Krupa should have gone home instead of yourself?
Gina Melcher: For whatever reason chef Ramsay thought she should still be there, I guess it is whatever is best for television. Drama makes for good television and I am sure it played a part in my elimination.
RTVM: Do you think all the drama put the women at a disadvantage?
Gina Melcher: Oh, it definitely put us at a disadvantage. It took away from the morale and spirit of the team as a whole. I get that Elise was out for herself, but we still had to work together as a team, and it just hurt the team.
RTVM: If you could go back, would you do anything differently?
Gina Melcher: I would have not second guessed myself so much. Every time I messed up on a challenge or service, it was from me not trusting my instincts. I should have learned to trust myself.
RTVM: How was your experience overall on the show?
Gina Melcher: It was definitely humbling to say the least. You know, when you are constantly being watched and scrutinized, it’s hard to be proud of yourself. You have to put out what Chef Ramsay wants and it is a huge learning experience. I had a great time and am looking forward to seeing the rest of the season.
RTVM: Do you have any predictions on who will win this season of Hell’s Kitchen?
Gina Melcher: My money is on Will. He is a great chef, a great contender and I have said that from the get go.
RTVM: What was the most difficult part of the experience for you?
Gina Melcher: Dealing with all the different personalities. You’re stuck in a room with 17 other people and you have to look at them day and night. You’re thrown in there with them out of nowhere and you have to try to get along, while trying to figure them out.
RTVM: Do you keep in touch with any of the other contestants?
Gina Melcher: Yes, all of them. You get very close from the experience.
RTVM: What is next for you?
Gina Melcher: Right now, I am taking the summer off, but I am currently writing a cookbook. I will be focusing on the local farmer’s and fish markets here in New Jersey while writing. You can keep up with me on both Twitter and Facebook under Gina Melcher.
