Former Doctor Who star Peter Davison has told TV Times that he hopes his little grandson Henry may one day follow in his Doctor Who footsteps.

Peter, whose daughter Georgia Moffett is engaged to ex-Time Lord David Tennant, said, “My nine-year-old grandson Tyler (Georgia’s child from a previous relationship) has ambitions of being the Doctor.

“There are an awful lot of young people lining up to play that part, though, so it may be difficult.”

And as Peter is also granddad to David and Georgia’s baby daughter Olive, he admits the Doctor Who connection is “bizarre, but very nice, too”.

He added, “I don’t quite think of David as my son-in-law yet but the correlations are quite extraordinary, I think…

“In a way, the reason they got together was that Georgia was never intimidated by the whole Doctor Who thing – what was new about that to her?

“It’s been a big part of her life.”

Peter then went on to discuss his role as Crown Prosecution Service director Henry Sharpe in the new series of ITV1 show Law & Order: UK.

He said of the character, “He’s a fairly regular, good guy – I haven’t found any dark side to him yet.”
