With all the recent news surrounding Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony‘s split, there has been little word as to whether or not Jennifer had plans on returning to American Idol as part of the judging panel. However, we just learned that Jennifer Lopez is apparently closing in on a deal with Fox for the new season! Read on for more…

We recently learned that Jennifer Lopez was burying herself in her work to keep her mind off her split with Marc Anthony, and now reports suggest that American Idol is on that list of work, and that Jennifer is nearing a deal with the show for the new season. The Wall Street journal reports that Cécile Frot-Coutaz, chief executive officer at FremantleMedia North America, which produces Idol declined to comment on the negotiation when asked, but she did tell them: “We’re in good shape. No worries. No dark clouds on the horizon.” No dark clouds? I guess that means we can assume Jennifer Lopez will be returning next season – it is probably just a matter of money at this point.

When asked about a new deal, Jennifer Lopez said: “there is nothing to announce,” as they have not come to a deal yet, but apparently they are still in discussions. Analysts chimed in with their two cents noting that Fox needs to make a deal with Lopez and make the announcement soon in fear that viewers will only tolerate so many changes. As of right now, we all wait for the official announcement, but from the sound of it, we think we will be seeing Jennifer Lopez on season 11 of American Idol. Stay tuned for the official word from Fox!
